Keshab Chandra Dash (born 6 March 1955 in Jajpur, Odisha, India), is a scholar and author from Odisha. [1] [2]

Scholarship

Dash is a specialist in the areas of Indian Logic, Panini Grammar, Computational Linguistics. Indian philosophy and Modern Sanskrit literature. [1] [3] He has contributed to the fields of computer studies relating to Sanskrit, stylistic innovation in modern Sanskrit literature [2] and advance methodology of research in Sanskrit. His approach is interdisciplinary as well as multidisciplinary. [1] [2]

Authorship

Dash is a novelist and poet, [4] and he has published a number of novels [5] in modern Sanskrit. His authorship was the subject of a PhD thesis in 2013. [1] [6]

Early life and education

Dash was born on 6 March 1955, at the village of Hatasahi, Jajpur District, Odisha. [2] His father was Narayan Dash and mother Kumudini Devi. [1] [6] He is married to Subhadra Dash. [1]

Dash has received the following degrees: M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D., D.Litt., Acharya (M.A.), Parangata (M.A.), Ratna (M.A.) and Diplomas in German, French, Film Direction and Computer Programming. [1] [2] [7]

Career

Dash started his career as a lecturer in 1980. For the last several years, he has headed the post graduate department of Nyaya Darsana in Shri Jagannatha Sanskrit University, Puri, Orissa. [2] [7]

Satya Vrat Shastri was an Indian Sanskrit scholar, writer, grammarian and poet. He wrote three Mahakavyas, three Khandakavyas, one Prabandhakavyas and one Patrakavya and five works in critical writing in Sanskrit. Kalindi Charan Panigrahi was a noted Odia poet, novelist, story writer, dramatist, and essayist. He is famous for his magnum opus Matira Manisha. He has been awarded Padma Bhushan and Sahitya Akademi award for contribution to Odia literature.

Bhagirath Prasad Tripathi, better known as Vagish Shastri, was an Indian Sanskrit grammarian, linguist, tantra and yogi. In 2018, Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian award Padma Shri for his work in the field of literature and education.

Devarshi Kala Nath Shastry was born on 15 July 1936. He is a Sanskrit scholar honoured by the President of India in 1988. He is an Indologist and a prolific writer of Sanskrit, Hindi and English, and a well-known linguist, who has contributed to the campaign of evolving technical terminology in Indian languages and ensuring a respectable status to Hindi, the official language of his state and the Indian union.

Navalpakkam Ramanuja Tatacharya was a Sanskrit scholar from India. He received the Chevalier of Légion d'honneur which is the highest civilian honour of France. He was a researcher at the French Institute of Pondicherry. He was the first Vice Chancellor of the Kendriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth, holding the office between 1989–1994. In 2016, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian honour of India for his contribution to the field of Sanskrit literature and education.

Rahas Bihari Dwivedi is a Sanskrit scholar and poet from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. He was awarded the President's Ceritificate of Honour for Sanskrit in the year 2012. He was the formerly the Head of the Department of Sanskrit at Rani Durgavati University, Jabalpur.

Veeranarayana N. K. Pandurangi is a Sanskrit scholar from Bangalore, worked in Jaipur, Rajasthan and at present he is the Principal of Karnataka Samskrit University's evening college. Subrat Kumar Prusty is an Indian Odia-language scholar, activist, social entrepreneur, literary critic and author. He is Member Secretary of the Institute of Odia Studies and Research, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. He was instrumental in preparing the research documents, advocating the awarding of Classical Language status to Odia, forming Central Institute of Classical Odia, Odia University and implementation of the Odisha Official Language Act, 1954. Balram Shukla is an academician, poet and author based in New Delhi. He is a self-taught scholar of Sanskrit and Indian literature. He works as a professor of Sanskrit at the University of Delhi. Krishnacharya Tamanacharya Pandurangi, also known by the pen name Viswamangala, was an Indian Sanskrit scholar and a notable Indologist. Pandurangi was unique among contemporary Sanskrit scholars, being simultaneously at home among both traditional and modern systems of education. In 1989, the Government of India honoured him with the Rashtrapati Award for his contributions to literature and research.
