He was born in Phulgama province of Nepal. The Vaishnavic poet Govinda Thakur and his step brother, the famous poet Ruchikar were his ancestors. His gurus included Lakhshminath Jha, V.R.Sharma and Pt.Shobhakant Jayadev Jha.
He completed his Acharya from Bihar Sanskrit Samiti, Patna 1956 with a gold medal. He earned an M.A.in 1960 from Bihar University, Muzaffarpur and Ph.D. in 1981 from Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Darbhanga with the topic: बाणभटस्य रचनासु प्र॓ક્ષIविलास.
He served as lecturer in Purnima Ramapratap Sanskrit college, Baigani, Darbhanga from 1964 to 1972.
He taught at Maharaj Lakshmi Singh college from 1972 to 1989.
The poet retired from the Sanskrit department of Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Darbhanga.

Mithila is a proposed state in India, comprising the Maithili speaking region of Bihar and Jharkhand. The Maithili language has own traditional script, known as Mithilakshar. It is part of the historical Mithila region. The proposed state will also include Whole Angika and Bajjika speaking districts which are considered to be dialects of Maithili.

Amaranatha Jha was the Vice Chancellor (VC) of the University of Allahabad and the Banaras Hindu University. He was the son of Mahamahopadhyay Dr. Sir Ganganath Jha, a great scholar of Sanskrit Amaranatha Jha was reputed as the ablest professor of English literature in India of his time. He was Head of the Department of English at the University of Allahabad for a long time, being appointed to the post at the young age of thirty-two. He succeeded his father as Vice-Chancellor of the Allahabad University of the Banaras Hindu University in succession to Dr. Radhakrishnan. He worked as Vice Chairman of the committee for the project leading to the establishment of the National Defence Academy. He was one amongst eminent dignitaries associated with the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sanstahan, Allahabad. At the end of his academic career, he was made the Chairman of the Bihar Public Service Commission.
Maharajadhiraj Sir Kameshwar Singh Goutam Bahadur, K.C.I.E. was the Maharaja of Darbhanga. He held his title over his family estates in the Mithila region from 1929 – 1952, when such titles were abolished following the Independence of India. He had a sister named Lakshmi Daiji.
Dr. Shridhar Vasudev Sohoni (1914–2002) was an eminent scholar of Sanskrit, and a noted antiquarian and numismatist. He was an officer in the Indian Civil Service, and later in his career served as the Chief Secretary of Bihar, Lokayukta of Bihar, and the Vice-Chancellor of Lalit Narayan Mithila University and Tilak Maharashtra University. As a scholar, he published extensively and authored and edited several books and essays on a variety of subjects, including archaeology, architecture, Buddhism, literature, music, Sanskrit, sculpture, and administration. Dr. S.V. Sohoni was honoured with many awards and a festscrift recognised him as one of the founders of the Academy of Indian Numismatics and Sigillography. A festschrift celebrating his Sanskrit scholarship had already been published a decade earlier. He was conferred D.Litt. degrees by four institutions, University of Delhi, Vikram University, Lalit Narayan Mithila University, and Nalanda University. Dr. Sohoni was serving on the Regulating Council of the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute when he died.

The Oiniwar dynasty, or Aainwar dynasty also known as the Sugauna dynasty, was a Maithil ruling dynasty of territories that form part of the Mithila region of the Indian subcontinent. They governed the area between 1325 and 1526, being preceded by the Karnat dynasty. Following the demise of the dynasty, emerged the dynasty of the Raj Darbhanga. One of the Oiniwar Dynasty's most notable brave ruler and fighter was Shiva Simha Singh.
The Varna Ratnakara, Maithili: वर्ण रत्नाकर,, literally "Ocean of description", is the oldest prose work of Maithili language, written in 1324 CE by the Maithil scholar, priest and poet Jyotirishwar Thakur. The author was a part of the court of King Harisimhadeva of the Karnat dynasty whose capitals were in both Simraungadh and Darbhanga.
Dilip Kumar Choudhary is an Indian politician from Darbhanga Graduate Constituency in Bihar. He was a Member of the Bihar Legislative Council two times, since 2007 and 2014. From the year 1990 to 2002, he was a councillor of Darbhanga Municipal Corporation. He completed his master's degree in chemistry subject from Lalit Narayan Mithila University and Ph.D. from Allahabad University. Choudhary is a professor of chemistry in Chandradhari Mithila Vigyan Mahavidyalaya at Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Darbhanga. Since February 2022, he is also principal of C.M. Science College along with the charge of C. M. Law College, Darbhanga. His father, Late Dr. Nilambar Chaudhary was also a Senior Leader of the Indian National Congress and a member of the Bihar Legislative Council multiple times from Darbhanga Graduate Constituency.
Mithila State Movement is a movement advocating a separate Mithila state in India. This movement gained momentum in 1902 AD when Sir George Grierson, an official of the British Indian government, prepared a map of Mithila state by conducting a language-based survey. In 1881 AD, the word Mithila was added to the dictionary of the British India government. According to the founder, president Dr. Dhanakar Thakur of the International Maithili Council in the proposed Mithila state, 24 districts of Bihar and six districts of Jharkhand, a total of 30 districts, have been included, which has a population of about 70 million. At the same time, the area is 70 thousand square km.
