Kevin Dwayne Winston Jr. is an American football safety for the Penn State Nittany Lions.
Kevin Winston Jr. attended middle school at Washington Jesuit Academy in Washington, D.C., where his father is the vice principal. [1] [2] His father, Kevin Winston Sr. played football at James Madison University for four seasons, winning a National Championship in 2004. [3] [4] Winston Jr. attended DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland. As a senior in 2021, he was named the All-Met Defensive Player Player of the Year by The Washington Post after recording 50 tackles, three interceptions and a fumble recovery for a touchdown. As a true freshman at Penn State in 2022, Winston Jr. played in 12 games and had 16 tackles. [8] As a sophomore in 2023, he started 13 games and had 61 tackles and an interception. [9] [10] After the season, Winston was awarded All-Big Ten honorable mention laurels. [4]

Miami and Alabama tied for second place with a graduation rate of 75%. The Nittany Lions finished the season with an 11–2 record and won the Lambert-Meadowlands Trophy award to the best team in the ECAC for the 28th time and the second consecutive year.

The team played its home games in Beaver Stadium in University Park, Pennsylvania, US. They were members of the Big Ten Conference in the newly formed Leaders Division. They finished the season 9–4, 6–2 in the Leaders Division to be co–division champions with Wisconsin. Due to their head-to-head loss to Wisconsin, they did not represent the division in the inaugural Big Ten Championship Game. They were invited to the TicketCity Bowl where they lost to Houston 14–30.
