Khalifa City is a residential suburb located in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. It is popular among renters. [1]

Subdivisions

Khalifa City was subdivided into three areas: Khalifa City A, Khalifa City B, and New Khalifa City. They have since been renamed to Khalifa City, Shakhbout City, and Zayed City respectively. All of these are currently being developed into what will become three major new districts of Abu Dhabi.

Khalifa City

Khalifa City A is on the main highway to Dubai, about 25 kilometres from Abu Dhabi, [2] and is close to Abu Dhabi International Airport and Yas Island. Etihad Airways has its head office in Khalifa City A. [3] Khalifa City A, which already has around 600-700 houses, will be adjacent to the prestigious Al Raha Beach project. This project will include residential and commercial units, as well as many international hotels. The project is being built by Aldar properties. Emirates ID have their HQ here. [4]

Shakhbout City

Shakhbout City is further inland and is near Bani Yas and Al Shawamekh. [5]

Formerly known as Khalifa City B.

Zayed City

The new Zayed City is planned to be between Khalifa City and Shakhbout City. It is also known as the Capital District, and is planned to be the new city center of Abu Dhabi.

Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Sheikh of Abu Dhabi

Etihad Airways airline of the United Arab Emirates

Etihad Airways is the second flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates. Its head office is in Khalifa City, Abu Dhabi, near to Abu Dhabi International Airport. Etihad commenced operations in November 2003. It is the second largest airline in the UAE after Emirates.

Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan 2nd Rais of the United Arab Emirates

Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan is the current de jure president of the United Arab Emirates, the emir of Abu Dhabi, the supreme commander of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces and the chairman of the Supreme Petroleum Council. Sheikh Khalifa is also chairman of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, which manages $875 billion in assets, the largest amount managed by a nation's head of state in the world. Collectively, the Al Nahyan family is believed to hold a fortune of $150 billion.

Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan

Mansour bin Zayed bin Sultan bin Zayed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, often referred to as Sheikh Mansour, is an Emirati politician who is the deputy prime minister of the United Arab Emirates, minister of presidential affairs and member of the royal family of Abu Dhabi. He is the half brother of the current President of UAE, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Emirate of Abu Dhabi Constituent emirate of the United Arab Emirates

The Emirate of Abu Dhabi is one of seven emirates that constitute the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is the largest emirate by area, accounting for approximately 87 percent of the total land area of the federation. Abu Dhabi also has the second-largest population of the seven emirates. Masdar Institute of Science and Technology

The Masdar Institute of Science and Technology was a graduate level, research-oriented university focused on alternative energies, sustainability, and environmental research. In 2017 it merged with two other institutions in Abu Dhabi to create Khalifa University, and its previous structure now hosts the research backbone of the new university, referred as the "Masdar City campus". It was located in Masdar City in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Khaldoon Al Mubarak

Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak is an Emirati entrepreneur and the chief executive officer and managing director of Mubadala Investment Company.

Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is an Emirati businessman and managing director of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority. He is a member of the Al Nahyan, ruling family of Abu Dhabi.

Yas Island Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Yas Island is an island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It occupies a total land area of 25 km2 (9.7 sq mi). It is a popular leisure island and one of the top tourism projects in Abu Dhabi. Yas Island holds the Yas Marina Circuit, which has hosted the Formula One Abu Dhabi Grand Prix since 2009.

2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games

The 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games were a special olympics multi-sport event for athletes with intellectual disabilities in the tradition of the Special Olympics movement. It was held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates from March 14–21, 2019. ESPN offered international coverage of the games.

Abu Dhabi Ports was established in May 2006 by Emiri Decree No. (6), as a master developer of ports and industrial zones in Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi Ports was formed as part of the restructuring of the commercial ports sector in the emirate, and was given control and regulatory enforcement power over all commercial ports assets previously owned by the Abu Dhabi Seaports Authority (ADSA). Khalifa Port, which was opened in September 2012, together with the development of the Khalifa Industrial Zone, are the major achievements of Abu Dhabi Ports to date. Musaffah Port is an Abu Dhabi Ports' port located in the industrial town of Musaffah south west of the city of Abu Dhabi. The deepwater Musaffah Port and Musaffah Channel include a general cargo terminal at the northwest corner of the Musaffah Industrial Area, as well as an extensive waterfront nearly 40 km long that is occupied by numerous private berths and terminals. It's the city's second port after the establishment of Zayed Port in 1972.
