The Miranzai Valley, also Hangu, is a mountainous valley situated in the Kohat and Hangu districts in the North-West Frontier Province of Pakistan. It is made up of two valleys, draining from the southwest into the Kurram and northeast into the Kohat Tai. It is divided into upper and lower Miranzai. It extends from the Bangash and Orakzai hills to the Bangashs. It is 40 miles (64 km) in length and is 546 square miles (1,410 km2) in area. East of Hangu there are numerous smaller valleys; west of Hangu, consisting of all of the upper portion of the valley, there is a broad and open plain, bare of trees. There are many ravines in this and the surrounding area, with many inhabitants, predominantly the Bangash and Orakzai peoples.

Karsal is a village and union council, an administrative subdivision, of Chakwal District in the Punjab Province of Pakistan. It is part of Chakwal Tehsil. Famous Sufi Bari Imam was born in this area. Members of the Kassar tribe make up the bulk of the population. The name changed to NA-33 (Hangu) after the delimitation in 2018. NA-36 (Hangu-cum-Orakzai) and Orakzai District were also included after the delimitation in 2022.

Farid Khan was a Pakistani politician who was elected to the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the 2013 general election. Khan was an independent candidate from the PK-42 constituency of Hangu. He won the seat by securing 16,129 votes, defeating a Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) contestant in the polls. He joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf upon being elected to the provincial assembly. He was assassinated on 3 June 2013 in Hangu.

The Peshawar–Dera Ismail Khan motorway is a 360 km (220 mi) long proposed motorway connecting Peshawar with the southern parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Starting at the provincial capital Peshawar in the north, it will pass through Darra Adamkhel, Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Bannu(Domel), Ghoriwala, Lakki Marwat, and Darra Pezu, reaching Dera Ismail Khan at its southern end.
