The Khon Kaen International Marathon is held every late January in Khon Kaen, northeastern Thailand. It is organized by Khon Kaen University. [2]
It is attended by dozens of runners from Ethiopia and Kenya, as well as by top runners from Thailand, Laos, Taiwan, and other countries. [1] [3] A total of 40,000 runners attended the marathon events in 2018. [1] It has been organized for every consecutive year, and was founded in 2004. [4]

Khon Kaen is the capital of Khon Kaen province and the fourth-largest city in Thailand. It is one of the four major cities of Isan, Northeast Thailand, also known as the "big four of Isan", the others being Udon Thani, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Ubon Ratchathani.
Northeastern Thailand or Isan consists of 20 provinces in northeastern Thailand. Isan is Thailand's largest region, on the Khorat Plateau, bordered by the Mekong River to the north and east, by Cambodia to the southeast and the Sankamphaeng Range south of Nakhon Ratchasima. To the west it is separated from northern and central Thailand by the Phetchabun Mountains. Isan covers 167,718 km2 (64,756 sq mi), making it about half the size of Germany and roughly the size of England and Wales. The total forest area is 25,203 km2 (9,731 sq mi) or 15 percent of Isan's area.
Khon Kaen is one of Thailand's 76 provinces (changwat). It is a triply-landlocked province in central northeastern Thailand. Neighboring provinces are Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Kalasin, Maha Sarakham, Buriram, Nakhon Ratchasima, Chaiyaphum, Phetchabun, and Loei.
Khon Kaen University is a public research university. The university was the first institution of higher education in the northeastern Thailand and remains the oldest and the most competitive university in the region. The university is a hub of education in northeast Thailand. It is a widely recognized university in Asia with strong emphasis on medicine, engineering, science, agriculture and social science. Khon Kaen University was ranked 21st in Southeast Asia by Time Higher Education in 2009, and 4th in Thailand by The Office of Higher Education Commission.
Khon Kaen International Airport is in Ban Pet subdistrict, Mueang Khon Kaen district, Khon Kaen province in northeastern Thailand.
Sikhism is a recognised minority religion in Thailand, with about 70,000 adherents. The religion was brought by migrants from India who began to arrive in the late 19th century. There are about twenty Sikh temples or Gurdwaras in the country, including the Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha in Bangkok.

The Khon Kaen Light Rail Transit Project is a planned 22.6-kilometre (14.0 mi) light rail transit system consisting of an initial 16 stations to serve Khon Kaen Province in north-east Thailand. A Phase 2 3.5-kilometre (2.2 mi) five-station extension is also planned. The line will have both at-grade and elevated sections. Fares are expected to be a flat 15 baht. Construction is set to begin in 2024.

The 2021–22 Thai FA Cup is the 28th season of a Thailand's knockout football competition. The tournament was sponsored by Chang, and known as the Chang FA Cup for sponsorship purposes. The tournament is organized by the Football Association of Thailand. 94 clubs were accepted into the tournament, and it began with the qualification round on 29 September 2021 and concluded with the final on 22 May 2022. The winner would have qualified for the 2023 AFC Champions League play-off and the 2022 Thailand Champions Cup.
Miss Grand Thailand 2022 is the ninth edition of the Miss Grand Thailand beauty contest, held on 30 April 2022 at Show DC Hall in Bangkok, Thailand. The coronation was initially scheduled in August 2021, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was rescheduled twice, first in late-2021, and later to 2022. At the end of the event, the appointed Miss Grand Thailand 2021, Indy Johnson of Pathum Thani, crowned her successor, Engfa Waraha of Bangkok, a former contestant on the 2018/2019 The Voice Thailand, making her the first representative of the capital city to win the title. Engfa represented the country at Miss Grand International 2022, where she placed as 1st Runner-Up.

Miss Grand Khon Kaen is a Thai provincial beauty pageant which selects a representative from Khon Kaen province to the Miss Grand Thailand national competition. It was founded in 2016 by a local organizer Amnat Chaiyabut.
