Kim Jun (? - 1268) also known as Kim In-kun was the ninth military leader who ruled during the late period of the Goryeo military regime.
Kim Jun was the son of Kim Yun-seong,a house slave of the powerful Choe family of Goryeo's military dictatorship. Kim Jun had a brother,Kim Seung-jun but later,he was renamed Kim Chung. He was good at riding and archery. In 1258,Choe Ui was overthrown and killed by Kim Jun and Yu Gyeong (1211–1289). Kim Jun became the new military ruler and shortly after that,Goryeo concluded a war with Mongols.
However,Kim Jun's power was much weaker than those of his predecessors, because his regime was sustained by a small number of sympathizers who coincide with the coup d'état. Kim Jun continued to insist on the war with Mongols and in this context,he began to give power to his relatives in order to strengthen his power, led to corruption and resulted in violent clashes with a few supporters of the regime. Im Yeon, who was an adopted child of Kim Jun,had a problem with Kim Chung and his wealth.
The new king,Wonjong of Goryeo was an opponent of Kim Jun and scholars who had insisted on peace with Mongolia gained power. In 1268,Im Yeon assassinated Kim Jun and became the new military leader. The next year,Im Yeon's attempt to replace King Wonjong was reversed by the crown prince with the help from the Mongol force.

Goryeo was a Korean state founded in 918,during a time of national division called the Later Three Kingdoms period, that unified and ruled the Korean Peninsula until 1392. Goryeo achieved what has been called a "true national unification" by Korean historians as it not only unified the Later Three Kingdoms but also incorporated much of the ruling class of the northern kingdom of Balhae, who had origins in Goguryeo of the earlier Three Kingdoms of Korea. The name "Korea" is derived from the name of Goryeo, also romanized as Koryŏ,which was first used in the early 5th century by Goguryeo. According to Korean historians,it was during the Goryeo period that the individual identities of Goguryeo,Baekje and Silla were successfully merged into a single entity that became the basis of the modern-day Korean identity. Goryeo was the successor state to Later Goguryeo and Goguryeo.
Taejo, personal name Yi Seong-gye,later Yi Dan,was the founder and first monarch of the Joseon dynasty of Korea. After overthrowing the Goryeo dynasty,he ascended to the throne in 1392 and abdicated six years later during a strife between his sons. He was honored as Emperor Go following the establishment of the Korean Empire.

Gojong of Goryeo (1192–1259),personal name Wang Ch'ŏl,was the 23rd king of the Korean Goryeo dynasty, ruling from 1213 to 1259. Gojong's reign was marked by prolonged conflict with the Mongol Empire, which sought to conquer Goryeo, ending only to settle peace in 1259. During his reign actual power rested with the Choe family of military dictators.
Choe Chung-heon was a military ruler of Korea during the Goryeo period.
Choe U was the second Choe dictator of the Ubong Choe Military regime. He himself went out on the battlefield to lead in fighting off the Mongolian invasions. Then he realized that the government was no longer safe at the capital city of Kaesong, and so he forced the king and his officials to flee to Ganghwa island. He took some of his armies and went to Ganghwa island with them. He did this because he knew that the Mongols would not attempt a naval assault against Ganghwa. Therefore, the Goryeo government was kept safe for several decades even after the Choe regime.
