Kimberly Ilana Thompson is an American drummer and music educator.
Kimberly Ilana Thompson was born in Los Angeles, California, [4] [5] and raised in St. Louis, MO. [6] She began playing drums at the age of ten. [4] [7] She attended Pattonville High School and was the drummer in the school band. [7] She graduated from the Manhattan School of Music in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in jazz composition. Thompson is the President of the female founded KTMUSICPRODUCTIONS, a record label based in Harlem, New York. [3] [5] She has released all her albums via the label, the first being Like Clockwork, in 2010. [3] Her latest album, Treasures Abound (A Tribute to the Jazz Greats), was released in April 2016 and features her dynamic drumming, showcasing modern themed classical etudes and original jazz songs written and performed with her jazz quartet. [8] She has served as session or touring drummer with several artists, including Beyoncé [2] [3] and fusion guitarist Mike Stern. She has played with The 8G Band on the NBC talk show Late Night with Seth Meyers and has performed with the Kimberly Thompson Quartet at New York's Jazz and Colors festival. James Joseph Chamberlin is an American drummer and record producer. He is best known as the drummer for the alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins. Following the 2000 breakup of the band, Chamberlin joined Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan in the supergroup Zwan and also formed his own group, the Jimmy Chamberlin Complex. In 2005, Chamberlin joined Corgan in reforming The Smashing Pumpkins; he eventually left the group in March 2009, though he returned again in 2015 for a summer tour. He performed in the group Skysaw until 2012. He is currently active under the Jimmy Chamberlin Complex name. In addition to his current work as CEO, Chamberlin has joined Chicago jazz saxophonist Frank Catalano for a string of 2013–15 performances in the Chicago area. An EP by Catalano and Chamberlin Love Supreme Collective - EP was released on July 29, 2014.
Eugene Bertram Krupa, known as Gene Krupa, was an American jazz drummer, bandleader and composer who performed with energy and showmanship. His drum solo on Benny Goodman's 1937 recording of "Sing, Sing, Sing" elevated the role of the drummer from an accompanist to an important solo voice in the band.
Romy and Michele's High School Reunion is a 1997 American comedy film directed by David Mirkin and starring Mira Sorvino, Lisa Kudrow, and Janeane Garofalo. The plot revolves around two 28-year-old girls who appear to have not achieved much success in life, and decide to invent fake careers to impress former classmates at their ten-year high school reunion.
