Kin is a digital media and entertainment company.

History

Kin Community was created by DECA in 2011 as part of YouTube's $100 million investment in their YouTube Original Channel Initiative. [1] Kin Community failed to receive follow-on funding from YouTube and instead focussed on selling ads for their network partners, [2] while continuing to create original content. In 2013, Kin Community partnered with Warner Bros. to represent The Ellen Show YouTube channel. [3]

Kin Community partner, the Lizzie Bennet Diaries, became the first YouTube series to win a Primetime Emmy, receiving the 2013 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media-Original Interactive Program. [4]

Kin Studios

In July 2015, Kin Community announced that they had formed Kin Studios, a 20-person team dedicated to creating branded content for advertisers with Kin Community creators. [5]

Machinima, Inc. was an American multiplatform online entertainment network owned by WarnerMedia. The company was founded in January 2000 by Hugh Hancock and was headquartered in Los Angeles, California.

Blip (website)

Blip was an American media platform for web series content and also offered a dashboard for producers of original web series to distribute and monetize their productions. The company was founded on May 5, 2005, and it was located in New York City and Los Angeles. It was financed by Bain Capital Ventures, Canaan Partners, and Ambient Sound Investments. Blip's mission statement was “to deliver the best original web series to audiences across multiple platforms.” The site showcased a wide variety of dramas, comedies, arts, sports and other shows. Blip was acquired by Maker Studios in 2013 and shut down by them on August 20, 2015.

Disney Digital Network American worldwide multi-channel network

Disney Digital Network is an American multi-channel network located in Culver City, California. It is the successor to Maker Studios, co-founded by Lisa Donovan, Danny Zappin, Scott Katz, Kassem Gharaibeh, Shay Carl, Rawn Erickson II, Ben Donovan, and Philip DeFranco in 2009. Maker Studios was acquired by The Walt Disney Company in 2014 for $500 million, and was absorbed into the newly formed Disney Digital Network in 2017.

Seeker is an American digital media network and content publisher based in San Francisco, California. The network was established in 2015 within a former independent division of Discovery Communications known as Discovery Digital Networks. Seeker produces online video and editorial content for the digital media landscape, with an emphasis on social platforms and YouTube.
