Italian hip hop started in the 1980s. One of the first hip hop crews to catch the attention of the Italian mainstream was Bologna's Isola Posse All Star, then and still today produced by Sandro Orru, who had written the soundtrack to the animated TV series Signor Rossi in the 1970s. The European Music Office's report on Music in Europe claimed that, in general, hip hop from the south of Italy tends to be harder than that from the north.
U218 Singles is a greatest hits album by Irish rock band U2, released in November 2006. In most markets, the album contains 18 songs: 16 of their most successful and popular singles, and two new songs. The 17th track is a cover version of The Skids' "The Saints Are Coming", recorded with Green Day to benefit Hurricane Katrina charities. The 18th and closing track was a new song entitled "Window in the Skies". In some markets such as the United Kingdom, an extra song, "I Will Follow", was included as the opening track. A DVD compilation of music videos from throughout the group's career entitled U218 Videos was released concurrent to U218 Singles.

The Dethalbum is the debut album by virtual band Dethklok, from American animated sitcom Metalocalypse. It was released on September 25, 2007. The album features full length songs from the TV series, as well as previously unreleased tracks. Antonio Canobbio contributed the artwork for the record.
The Sound of The Smiths is a Smiths compilation released on 10 November 2008. It is available as both single and double disc editions. Morrissey is credited with having coined the compilation's title, while Johnny Marr was involved in the project's mastering. Early promotional material for the album originally saw it entitled Hang the DJ: The Very Best of the Smiths, but this was changed for the final release.

Starting his career in the rap group Dogo Gang, he debuted as a solo artist rising in fame in the 2010s releasing six studio albums that reached the top ten of the Italian Albums Chart, including two top positions with Santeria (2016) and Persona (2019). The rapper has also released numerous successful singles and collaborations scoring seventeen times the top ten of the Italian Singles Chart. Thanks to his work he has sold 3 million copies in Italy, becoming one of the top selling Italian rappers in the 2010s.

"Lose My Mind" is the first single released from Jeezy's album, Thug Motivation 103: Hustlerz Ambition. The song features rapper Plies. It was nominated for Best Rap Performance By Duo or Group at the 2011 Grammys. It serves as a bonus track on the deluxe edition of the album. The song was also included on Jeezy's mixtape Trap or Die II.
"Poison" is a song by American recording artist Beyoncé. It is included on the 2009 deluxe edition of her third studio album, I Am… Sasha Fierce (2008) and the EP titled I Am...Sasha Fierce – The Bonus Tracks (2009). It was written by Johntá Austin, Mikkel S. Eriksen and Tor Erik Hermansen of the production team Stargate and Beyoncé while the production was handled by the later two. The song leaked online in August 2009 prior to the release of the deluxe edition of I Am… Sasha Fierce. During that month, it was included on a mixtape by DJ Haze titled Big R&B Ego.

The track served as the lead single for Professor Green's second studio album, At Your Inconvenience and was released as a digital download in the United Kingdom on 23 October 2011. The track debuted at number-one in the UK with sales of over 153,000 copies and spent two consecutive weeks at the peak.
Phase II is the second studio album by American singer Prince Royce; it was released on April 10, 2012, by Top Stop Music. The 12-track album saw Royce incorporate a variety of music styles to his work, including bachata, Latin pop, R&B and mariachi. Between 1999 and 2001, he was also in "Sacre Scuole ", a group made up by Gué Pequeno, Dargen D'Amico and Jake La Furia.

Rockstar is the third studio album by Italian rapper Sfera Ebbasta. The album was released by Def Jam Recordings on 19 January 2018. The album peaked at number one on the Italian Albums Chart and it stayed on top of the chart for four weeks. Rockstar received 35 million streams on its first week on Spotify, and Sfera Ebbasta was the first Italian artist to appear on the streaming platform's Top 100 global chart. All of its 11 tracks entered on the first twelve positions of the Italian Singles Chart simultaneously. A deluxe edition was released on 30 November 2018.

Persona is a studio album by Italian rapper Marracash, released on 31 October 2019 by Island Records and Universal Music Italia. The album originally consisted of 15 tracks. The song "Neon - Le ali", written and performed with Italian singer Elisa, was also composed for the album, but it was not completed on time. Despite not being included on Persona, the track was released as a single in March 2020, and added to the track listing of Persona's streaming version.
Francesca Calearo, known professionally as Madame, is an Italian rapper and singer-songwriter. After signing a recording contract with Sugar Music, she gained popularity in August 2019, when her single "Sciccherie" was shared by Cristiano Ronaldo on his Instagram profile. The song was later certified gold by the Federation of the Italian Music Industry, denoting 35,000 equivalent units in Italy.
