Kirill Setkin (born 13 March 1993) is a Russian slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2009. [3] [4]

Canoe slalom is a competitive sport with the aim to navigate a decked canoe or kayak through a course of hanging downstream or upstream gates on river rapids in the fastest time possible. It is one of the two kayak and canoeing disciplines at the Summer Olympics, and is referred to by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as Canoe/Kayak Slalom. The other Olympic canoeing discipline is canoe sprint. Wildwater canoeing is a non-Olympic paddlesport.

He competes in the C1 category and he won a bronze medal in the C1 team event at the 2019 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships in La Seu d'Urgell as well as a bronze medal in the same event at the 2019 European Canoe Slalom Championships in Pau. He is the U23 World Champion in the C1 team event from 2014 and the Junior World Champion in the C1 event from 2010.

The 2019 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships were the 40th edition of the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships. The event took place from 24 to 29 September 2019 in La Seu d'Urgell, Spain under the auspices of International Canoe Federation (ICF). The events took place at the Segre Olympic Park which also hosted the canoe slalom events at the 1992 Summer Olympics. La Seu d'Urgell hosted the championships for the third time after previously hosting the event in 1999 and 2009

The 2019 European Canoe Slalom Championships took place in Pau, France under the auspices of the European Canoe Association (ECA). It was the 20th edition of the competition and Pau hosted the event for the first time. The events took place at the Pau-Pyrénées Whitewater Stadium from 29 May to 2 June 2019.

In September 2012, Setkin was suspended from competition for six months, after he was found to have violated RUSADA anti-doping regulations. [5]

The Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA), established in January 2008, is the Russian National Anti-Doping Organisation (NADO), affiliated with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

The International Canoe Federation (ICF) is the umbrella organization of all national canoe organizations worldwide. It is headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, and administers all aspects of canoe sport worldwide. 157 countries are affiliated with the ICF after seven national federations were added at the 2008 ICF Congress in Rome.
