The European Canoe Slalom Championships is an annual international canoeing and kayaking event organized by the European Canoe Association (ECA) since 1996. Until 2004 it was held every two years.

The ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships are an international event in canoe racing, one of two Summer Olympic sport events organized by the International Canoe Federation. The World Championships have taken place every non-Olympic year since 1970 and officially included paracanoe events since 2010; since 2012, paracanoe-specific editions of this event have been held in Summer Paralympic years.
The ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships are an international event in canoeing organized by the International Canoe Federation. The World Championships have taken place every year in non-Summer Olympic years since 2002. From 1949 to 1999, they had taken place in odd-numbered years. The 2001 championships were scheduled to take place in Ducktown, Tennessee from 20 to 23 September, but were canceled in the wake of the September 11 attacks.

The European Canoe Association (ECA) is the umbrella organization for canoeing sport in Europe. It was founded in Rome, Italy, on December 11, 1993. The organization has 45 member countries. The association was recognized by the International Canoe Federation at the ICF congress in Acapulco in 1994.
Mallory Franklin is a British slalom canoeist who has competed internationally since 2009. She competes in both Kayak and Canadian Canoe classes, as well as the Extreme Canoe (XC) discipline.
Vít Přindiš is a Czech slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2005.
Joseph Clarke, is a British slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2009, specializing in the K1 (kayak) and KX1 events. He is the 2016 Olympic champion in the K1 event, a double World champion in the kayak cross discipline, and has won medals at World and European Championships.
The European Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom Championships is an annual international canoeing and kayaking event organized by the European Canoe Association (ECA). The Junior Championships were first held in 1995 and then every two years until 2003. The Under-23 Championships were first held in 2002 as part of the senior championships that year. Since 2004 the junior and U23 age categories are held annually together as part of the same event. Athletes under the age of 18 are eligible for the junior category.

The Junior World Championships were first held in 1986 and then every two years until 2012. The Under-23 category has been added to the program in 2012. Since then the championships have been held annually. Athletes under the age of 18 are eligible for the junior category.
The 2017 European Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom Championships took place in Hohenlimburg, Germany from 17 to 20 August 2017 under the auspices of the European Canoe Association (ECA). It was the 19th edition of the competition for Juniors (U18) and the 15th edition for the Under 23 category. The men's C2 team events did not take place. The men's C2 junior event did not count as a medal event due to insufficient number of participating countries. An event must have at least 5 nations taking part in order to count as a medal event.
The 2018 European Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom Championships took place in Bratislava, Slovakia from 16 to 19 August 2018 under the auspices of the European Canoe Association (ECA) at the Čunovo Water Sports Centre. It was the 20th edition of the competition for Juniors (U18) and the 16th edition for the Under 23 category. A total of 16 medal events took place, 8 in each of the two age categories. In addition, there were two exhibition events. One in the discontinued men's C2 category and the other in the mixed C2. The senior Freestyle European Championships were held as part of the same event.

A total of 20 medal events were held.
Romane Prigent is a French slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2016. She is from Pau in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department of France and competes for Pau Canoe-kayak Club Universitaire.
