The European Canoe Association (ECA) is the umbrella organization for canoeing sport in Europe. It was founded in Rome, Italy, on December 11, 1993. [1] The organization has 45 member countries. [2] The association was recognized by the International Canoe Federation at the ICF congress in Acapulco in 1994. [3]
In response to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the ECA suspended the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes, and suspended all officials from Russia and Belarus from officiating at any ECA event and attending or taking part in any ECA meetings. [4] In May 2023, the International Canoe Federation reinstated Russian and Belarusian athletes, shortly after a Russian missile attack forced cancellation of a canoe event in Ukraine. [5]
Paddle Scotland, formerly the Scottish Canoe Association or SCA, is the national governing body for canoeing, kayaking and other paddlesport in Scotland.

The European Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom Championships is an annual international canoeing and kayaking event organized by the European Canoe Association (ECA). The Junior Championships were first held in 1995 and then every two years until 2003. The Under-23 Championships were first held in 2002 as part of the senior championships that year. Since 2004 the junior and U23 age categories are held annually together as part of the same event. Athletes under the age of 18 are eligible for the junior category.

The 2017 European Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom Championships took place in Hohenlimburg, Germany from 17 to 20 August 2017 under the auspices of the European Canoe Association (ECA). It was the 19th edition of the competition for Juniors (U18) and the 15th edition for the Under 23 category. The men's C2 team events did not take place. The men's C2 junior event did not count as a medal event due to insufficient number of participating countries. An event must have at least 5 nations taking part in order to count as a medal event.

The Wildwater Canoeing World Championships are an international event in canoeing organized by the International Canoe Federation. The World Championships have taken place every two years from 1959 to 1995 and then from 1996 to 2001, from 2011 the event is annual.

A total of 20 medal events were held.
