Timothy Mark Baillie MBE (born 11 May 1979 in Aberdeen) is a Scottish slalom canoeist who represented Britain. [1] From Westhill in Aberdeenshire, he started competing at the international level in 1996, initially in the K1 category, but switching to C2 in 2003. He retired from the sport in 2013. [2] He is the Olympic Champion in the C2 event from the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
Baillie and his partner Etienne Stott won two bronze medals in the C2 team event at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships (2009, 2011). They also won a bronze medal in the C2 event at the 2009 European Championships at the Holme Pierrepont National Watersports Centre, Nottingham, England and came in fourth place at the 2009 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships in La Seu d'Urgell. They won another silver and a bronze in the C2 team event at the European Championships alongside the other UK boats of David Florence/Richard Hounslow and Daniel Goddard/Colin Radmore. In 2012 they were a part of the British team that won gold at the European Championships in Augsburg in the C2 team event. They are British Premier Division Champions and British Open Champions.
At the 2012 Summer Olympics, Baillie and partner Etienne Stott qualified through the heats for the C2 event on 30 July, and subsequently progressed to the semi-final. [3] [4] The semi-final consisted of one run each, with the six best competitors qualifying for the final. Baillie and Stott finished in sixth place, taking the final spot and consequently qualifying for the final. [5] As a result of their sixth-place finish, the slowest qualifying time out of the six remaining competitors, Baillie and Stott ran first in the final, securing a time of 106.41. [5] [6] The time was not beaten, with Baillie and Stott winning the gold medal in front of a 12,000 strong home crowd at the Lee Valley White Water Centre on 2 August. [7] Fellow British boat of David Florence and Richard Hounslow finished second with a time of 106.77. [5] [8] Baillie and Stott's success was described as "unexpected" and a "surprise", [9] with the pair describing winning gold as "mad". [10]

He attended Westhill Academy, [12] before studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nottingham. [13]
He was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2013 New Year Honours for services to canoeing. [14] [15]
He is married to Canadian slalom canoeist Sarah Boudens. [16]
Peter Hochschorner is a Slovak slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 1996. Competing together with his twin brother Pavol Hochschorner, they are the most successful C2 paddlers in the history of canoe slalom.
Gabriela Stacherová is a Slovak slalom canoeist who competed at the international level from 1995 to 2010.
David Florence is a British slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 1999. He is the 2013 and 2015 world champion in individual single canoe (C1) and 2013 champion in double canoe (C2), the latter with Richard Hounslow. Florence was the first canoeist since Charles Dussuet, sixty years earlier, to achieve the C1, C2 double at the same World Championships.
Ander Elosegi Alkain is a Spanish slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2003.
Fabien Lefèvre is a French slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 1998]. As a permanent resident of the United States, he has competed for his country of residence since 2013. He represented France until 2011. He won two medals at the Summer Olympics in the K1 event with a silver in 2008 and a bronze in 2004. He has a son called Noe Lefèvre.
Fabian Dörfler is a German slalom canoeist who competed at the international level from 2001 to 2014.
Maria Francis (Lund) is a British and Welsh slalom canoeist who competed in the 1980s and 1990s. She was women's K1 British Champion in 1989, silver medalist at the 1990 Europa Cup in Merano and went on to win a bronze medal in the K1 team event at the 1993 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships in Mezzana.
Susanne Hirt is a German slalom canoeist who competed at the international level from 1990 to 2000.
Etienne Stott MBE is an English slalom canoeist who started competing at the international level in 2002, initially in the K1 category, but switching to C2 in 2005. He retired from the sport in 2016. He is the Olympic Champion in the C2 event from the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
Richard John Hounslow is a British slalom canoeist who competed at the international level from 1999 until his retirement in 2016. He started out as a specialist in the kayak (K1) category, but in 2009 he also started competing in canoe doubles (C2) alongside David Florence. In his last season (2016) he concentrated on the C2 class exclusively.
Daniel Goddard is a British slalom canoeist who competed at the international level from 1998 to 2012.
Colin Radmore is a British slalom canoeist who competed at the international level from 2002 to 2010. Radmore specialized on the C1 class in the early part of his career, but switched to C2 in 2009, creating a partnership with Daniel Goddard.
Huw Swetnam is a British slalom canoeist who has competed since the mid-2000s. He won a silver medal in the K-1 team event at the 2009 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships in La Seu d'Urgell. He also won three medals in the same event at the European Championships.
Maialen Chourraut Yurramendi is a Spanish slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2000.
Viking Kayak Club is an open, community-based, multi-disciplinary club and is now one of the foremost canoe and kayak clubs in the UK. The club offers a broad range of paddling opportunities from easy recreational paddling to competition in canoe slalom, canoe racing and canoe polo and is active in encouraging beginners into the sport.

He is the most successful British canoeist at the Olympics with four medals won; he won a gold medal in the individual 200m kayak sprint event at the 2016 Summer Olympics and a bronze in the 2020 Olympics, as well as a silver in the men's double with Jon Schofield in 2016. and a bronze at the 2012 London Olympics in the K-2 200 with Schofield.

The 2019 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships were the 40th edition of the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships. The event took place from 24 to 29 September 2019 in La Seu d'Urgell, Spain under the auspices of International Canoe Federation (ICF). The events took place at the Segre Olympic Park which also hosted the canoe slalom events at the 1992 Summer Olympics. La Seu d'Urgell hosted the championships for the third time after previously hosting the event in 1999 and 2009
