Kirk Baptiste was an American track and field athlete, who mainly competed in the 200 metres. He was born in Beaumont, Texas. He competed for the United States at the 1984 Summer Olympics held in Los Angeles, United States, where he won the silver medal in the 200 metres with a time of 19.96 seconds. This was the first time anyone had broken 20 seconds and come second in the race. He decided to forgo his final season of eligibility at the University of Houston after his successful junior year. Baptiste was diagnosed with HIV in the 1990s, spending a decade abusing drugs to escape. In 2006 he began treatment at "A Caring Safe Place" in Houston.

The women's 200 metre breaststroke event, included in the swimming competition at the 1964 Summer Olympics, took place on 11–12 October, at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium. In this event, swimmers covered four lengths of the 50-metre (160 ft) Olympic-sized pool employing the breaststroke. It was the ninth appearance of the event, which first appeared at the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris. A total of 27 competitors from 15 nations participated in the event. Soviet Union's Galina Prozumenshchikova and Svetlana Babanina won their country's first ever medals in this event, with a gold and bronze medal respectively. Claudia Kolb's silver medal was the United States' second ever medal in this event, after Agnes Geraghty's silver in the inaugural event in 1924. In the heats, Australian Christine Barnetson was disqualified for an incorrect breaststroke, and Hungarian Márta Egerváry withdrew from the competition.

Kirk Alexander Stackle is an American former competition swimmer who participated in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. Stackle competed in the preliminary heats of the men's 200-meter breaststroke, finishing with the nineteenth-best time overall (2:19.47). His wife, Alecha Stackle, played tennis at the University of Texas at Austin. Their daughter, Avery Stackle, now swims for the University of Denver.
Perry Timothy Jecko was an American competition swimmer who represented the United States at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia. He swam for the second-place U.S. team in the qualifying heats of the men's 4×200-meter freestyle relay. Jecko did not receive a medal, however, because only relay swimmers who competed in the event final were eligible under the 1956 Olympic rules. In 1983, he acted on Broadway in Woman of the Year with Debbie Reynolds.
Kirk Webby is a New Zealand equestrian. He competed in show jumping at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Webby was a reserve for the New Zealand Olympic equestrian team and he and his horse were called up when Daniel Meech's horse Sorbas was ruled out due to injury.

Jeffrey L. Kirk was an American hurdler. He competed in the men's 400 metres hurdles at the 1948 Summer Olympics. He was educated at Mercersburg Academy, where he trained under Jimmy Curran, and the University of Pennsylvania, where he trained under Lawson Robertson. After graduation he worked as an educator at Kimberton Farms School, Lehigh University and Adelphi University.
