The Copa Mercosur was a football competition played from 1998 to 2001 by the traditional top clubs from Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and Chile. The competition was created by CONMEBOL to generate TV money to the participating teams, but it went beyond and ended up, together with the Copa Merconorte, as natural replacement to the CONMEBOL Cup. These two, Copa Merconorte and Copa Mercosur, were replaced in 2002 by the Copa Sudamericana.

Lake Kopa is a lake in the city of Kokshetau, located on the territory of Akmola Region close to the foot of Kokshetau Elevation in the northern part of Kazakhstan. Its elevation is 223.8 m (734 ft) above sea level and has a maximum depth of about 6 m. It is 5.6 km long and 12 km wide. The total surface area of it the lake is about 14 km2 (5.4 sq mi) depending on water level. It is fed by 2 rivers and is drained by the Shagalaly. The area of Lake Kopa fluctuates year to year, but in recent years the size of the lake has been decreasing overall. Kopa is used for fishery.

Kopa MCB is an annual football domestic cup competition for teams on Bonaire. Until 2010 when the Netherlands Antilles was dissolved, teams from Bonaire competed against teams from Curaçao in the Netherlands Antilles Championship. After gaining new politic status, no competition was held on Bonaire in 2011. The inaugural Kopa MCB was held in 2012. The competition is organized by the Bonaire Football Federation with naming rights purchased by Maduro & Curiel's Bank.

The 2018 Ballon d'Or was the 63rd annual award ceremony recognising the best footballer in the world for 2018. The winners were announced on 3 December 2018, and for the first time in its history, the Ballon d'Or Féminin and Kopa Trophy were awarded to the best female footballer and male under-21 footballer, respectively. Luka Modrić, who was integral to Croatia's surprise journey to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Final, was awarded the Ballon d'Or. His win meant that it was the first time since Kaká in 2007 that a player other than Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo won the award, ending the 10-year Messi–Ronaldo dominance.
