The Korea Maritime Institute (KMI) is a think tank and research center developing South Korean policies on marine affairs and fisheries,operated by the South Korean government through the Office of Government Policy Coordination. KMI was established under its current name in 1997,though expanded from a research center created in 1984 specializing in shipping economics. [1]

The CCG is headquartered in Ottawa,Ontario,and is a special operating agency within Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

The World Maritime University(WMU) in Malmö,Sweden,is a postgraduate maritime university founded within the framework of the International Maritime Organization (IMO),a specialized agency of the United Nations. Established by an IMO Assembly Resolution in 1983,the aim of WMU is to further enhance the objectives and goals of IMO and IMO member States around the world through education,research,and capacity building.
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries,is a cabinet-level division of the government of South Korea. It takes overall responsibilities for maritime and fisheries sectors in general,ranging from the promotion of maritime safety and security,the protection of the marine environment,the development of port and fishing ports,the research and development on polar issues to the management and sustainable use of fishery resources and the promotion of marine leisure activities. Its headquarters is located at 94 Dasom-2 ro,Sejong City. Before the merger in 2008,the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries was located in 140-2 Kye-Dong,Jongro-gu,Seoul City.
Pukyong National University (PKNU) is a national university in Busan,South Korea,formed in 1996. The university has two campuses,Daeyeon-dong and Yongdang-dong,situated near the coastal district of Nam-gu. PKNU has a traditional focus on fisheries sciences and other maritime fields,and has extensive facilities for Marine and Technology studies.

The Marine Institute is a State agency in Ireland that provides government,public agencies and the maritime industry with a range of scientific,advisory and economic development services,aiming to inform policy-making,regulation and the sustainable management and growth of the country’s marine resources. Founded in 1991 on foot of a 1974 report,the Institute undertakes,coordinates and promotes marine research and development,which is essential to achieving a sustainable ocean economy,protecting ecosystems and inspiring a shared understanding of the ocean. The agency is governed by a ministerially-appointed board and has a professional staff,a headquarters near Galway,an office in Dublin,and two research vessels.
Ingo Heidbrink is a German maritime historian who is Professor of History with a specialization on Maritime History at Old Dominion University in Norfolk,Virginia. He is specialized on Fisheries History,Traditional Watercraft and Museum Ships,Methodology of Maritime History and interdisciplinary research projects. Since Summer 2021 he is Chair of the Department of History at Old Dominion University.
Until the 1960s,agriculture and fishing were the dominant industries of the economy of South Korea. The fishing industry of South Korea depends on the existing bodies of water that are shared between South Korea,China and Japan. Its coastline lies adjacent to the Yellow Sea,the East China Sea and the Sea of Japan,and enables access to marine life such as fish and crustaceans.
Friend of the Sea is a project of the World Sustainability Organization for the certification and promotion of seafood from sustainable fisheries and sustainable aquaculture. It is the only certification scheme which,with the same logo,certifies both wild and farmed seafood.
Estonian Maritime Academy of Tallinn University of Technology is a vocational university in Estonia. It is one of the schools of Tallinn University of Technology and it is the only educational institution in Estonia that offers professional higher education and Master’s level education in the maritime field. The university is located in the capital Tallinn but also has two centres in Saaremaa. In addition to higher education,the school contributes to research,provides training and offers services. The Academy also holds a one of a kind Simulator Centre and has a whole dedicated floor of hi-tech laboratories.
Arctic cooperation and politics are partially coordinated via the Arctic Council,composed of the eight Arctic nations:the United States,Canada,Iceland,Norway,Sweden,Finland,Russia,and Denmark with Greenland and the Faroe Islands. The dominant governmental power in Arctic policy resides within the executive offices,legislative bodies,and implementing agencies of the eight Arctic nations,and to a lesser extent other nations,such as United Kingdom,Germany,European Union and China. The Ministry of Public Safety and Security was an organization of the national government of South Korea with the responsibility of public safety and security. It was established on November 19,2014 with a merger of the National Emergency Management Agency,Korea Coast Guard,a branch of Safety of Ministry of Security and Public Administration to prevent and efficiently respond to national disasters. It has its headquarters in the Seoul Government Complex.

The maritime industries of Taiwan are a large part of Taiwan's economy. Industries of particular importance are shipbuilding,boat building,maritime transport,aquaculture,mariculture,commercial fishing,seafood processing,offshore wind power and various forms of tourism. Deep sea mining,especially of dormant hydrothermal vents,is also being considered for the future. In 2018 Taiwan was the fourth largest yacht building nation. Taiwan is home to a number of maritime museums and maritime colleges.
