Kosciuszko is the fifth studio album by Australian alternative rock band Jebediah. Released on 15 April 2011, by Dew Process , the album introduced the award-winning band to mainstream audiences and commercial success.
Even though Jebediah took five years to re-enter the studio after the release of their Anniversary E.P. (2005), the band began drafting the songs as early as 2006. Between the two albums, the band took a break, with lead singer–rhythm guitarist Kevin Mitchell relocating to Melbourne during the hiatus. [1] [2]
Recording occurred at Blackbird Studios in Perth, Australia, and production duties were undertaken by Dave Parkin (owner of the studio) in collaboration with the band. Kevin Mitchell revealed in a radio interview:
It's probably the only time we've ever made a record where it was actually finished when it was finished. Every other time you're pretty much given a month or a two month block. When that last day ticks over the record is finished; whether it's finished or not. So this was an absolutely luxury to do it that way. [3]

Kosciuszko was released on 15 April 2011 by record label Dew Process. [13] On each of the twelve days leading up to the album's release, a short video (around one minute) was uploaded to the band's YouTube page, in which the band provides insight into each of the album's songs. [14]
Its first single "She's Like a Comet" quickly became a hit, [15] and the band performed the song on Australian morning television program Sunrise .
The album reached number 6 in the ARIA Chart, staying in the chart for six weeks. [16] As well as being available on CD, a limited number of copies were also released on vinyl. [17]

Jebediah are an Australian alternative rock band formed in 1994 in Perth, Western Australia. They were formed by Chris Daymond on lead guitar, Kevin Mitchell on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, and Vanessa Thornton on bass guitar. They were joined a year later by Kevin's older brother, Brett Mitchell, on drums. After winning the National Campus Band Competition, the group were brought to national attention when their 1996 single "Jerks of Attention" received heavy airplay on Australian alternative radio station Triple J – which was followed by their breakthrough debut album, Slightly Odway.
Gyroscope are an Australian rock band from Perth, which formed in 1997 as Gyroscope Sunday. The members are Daniel Sanders as lead vocalist and on guitar, Zoran Trivic on guitar and backing vocals, Brad Campbell on bass guitar and backing vocals and Rob Nassif on drums. "Please Leave" is a song by Australian alternative rock band Jebediah. It was released on 13 March 2000 as the third and final single from the band's second studio album, Of Someday Shambles. "Please Leave" was co-written by all four band members, Chris Daymond, Brett Mitchell, Kevin Mitchell and Vanessa Thornton. Brett, the group's drummer, in a run through Of Someday Shambles' track list, described it as "The lost song. We played it at Planet before Slightly Odway. Kevin had written out the lyrics and gaffa taped them to Vanessa's back. After that we totally forgot about it and Chris found the lyric sheet in a guitar case somewhere."
Redline Records was an independent record label based in Perth, Australia. Started in the year 2000 as a joint project between the band, Jebediah, and its management company, Naked Ape Management, the label predominantly released recordings of Australian indie bands under licensing agreements. Redline Records was distributed by Shock Records in Australia and New Zealand.
Steve Parkin is an Australian musician and singer-songwriter. Born in United Kingdom and raised in Perth. He is a founder member of 1990s Perth garage pop three-piece, Autopilot, who released two EPs, Pure Gold Baby in 1998 and Out of the Sun in 2001. He was also a band member of Basement Birds. He co-wrote material for Eskimo Joe's 2009 album Inshalla, which peaked at number one on the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Albums Chart. One of the tracks, "Foreign Land", won 'Most Played Australian Work' at the APRA Awards of 2010.
San Cisco is an Australian indie pop band that formed in 2009 under the original name of King George, in Fremantle, Western Australia. The band are a three-piece, and currently consists of Jordi Davieson, Josh Biondillo and Scarlett Stevens. Davieson and Biondillo share duties on keyboards. In November 2011, the band was signed by Albert Productions, but moved to Island Records for the release of its debut album. In October 2012, the band described its 'vibe' as "squelchy, crispy, streamlined, hairy, indie". At the ARIA Music Awards of 2013 the group were nominated for Best Independent Release and Best Dance Release for the album; and Best Video for "Fred Astaire", which was directed by Andrew Nowrojee.
Familiar Stranger is the fourth solo studio album by Australian indie pop artist, Kevin Mitchell, which was released on 15 March 2013 under his stage name, Bob Evans. It peaked at No. 31 on the ARIA Albums Chart. Familiar Stranger was produced by Dean Reid for EMI and provided two singles, "Don't Wanna Grow Up Anymore" and "Go".
Twenty is a compilation album by Australian alternative rock band, Jebediah. To celebrate the band's twentieth anniversary Jebediah undertook a national tour of Australia and released a collection of twenty songs which spans their entire catalogue. The songs were selected by the band, ranging from "Tracksuit" which appeared on the band's first release, Twitch in 1996 through to "She's Like a Comet", from their fifth studio album, Kosciusko.
