The Rize Koyan is a breed of livestock guardian dog from Turkey. [1]

The Rize Koyan is named after the town of Rize, the breed is found throughout Rize and Ordu provinces in the north-east Black Sea region of Turkey. [2] [3] The breed resembles the Kars dog with solid bodies and strong legs, dogs stand approximately 70 centimetres (28 in) with bitches being 1–2 centimetres (0.39–0.79 in) shorter; their coats can be various colours although grey is most common, bi-coloured examples are known. The Pyrenean Mountain Dog, also known as the Chien de Montagne des Pyrénées in its native land and the Great Pyrenees in the United States, is a breed of livestock guardian dog from France. The breed comes from the French side of the Pyrenees Mountains that separate France and Spain, it is recognised as a separate breed from the closely related Pyrenean Mastiff which is from the Spanish side of the mountains.

Ahmet Mesut Yılmaz was a Turkish politician. He was the leader of the Motherland Party from 1991 to 2002, and served three times as Prime Minister of Turkey. His first two prime-ministerial terms lasted just months, while the third ran from June 1997 to January 1999. The first was brought to an end by defeat in the 1991 elections, the latter two by the breakdown of Yılmaz' coalition governments.

According to official Kangal Shepherd Dog organisations in Turkey, including the Cynology Federation of Turkey and the Ankara Kangal Association the acceptable colours for Kangal are sable and fawn. Kangal shepherd dogs do not come in brindle or Black and Tan.

Greek Shepherd Dog breed
