Kozhikode Narayanan Nair is an Indian actor in Malayalam cinema, who has acted in more than 300 films. He entered the "Malayalam" movie industry (Mollywood) through a drama troupe.

His first film was Aabhijathyam (1970), and he is also remembered for his role as Valyamama in a Malayalam movie called Valsalyam (1993).

Early life

Nair was born in 1940 in Panthirankavu in the Kozhikode district. He entered his career in early school days through drama playing activities. Later, he became the member of a professional drama troop - Stage India. He continued his drama life with employment in sylon printers. He later became the manager of Marikkar eng. company and Hindustan eng. company. [1]

Film career

In his 50 years of the acting career, he completed 300 films in Malayalam industry. His first film was Aabhijathyam (1970). He then acted in movies such as Utharayanam , Nirmalyam , Kochuthemmadi , Oliyambukal , Bharatham , Aavanazhi , Sadhayam, ente sreekuttikku , Perumthachan and Mithunam . He became a popular actor after his noteworthy role in the movie Valsalyam (1993) as Valyamama, next to megastar Mammootty. After Valsalyam (1993), he became an active artist in the Malayalam industry. [2]

Personal life

A strong believer of Sathya Sai Baba, Nair usually visits Puttaparthi. He resides in Saiharitham, Kozhikode. His wife's name is Saradha. They have two children - one son (Suhas) and one daughter (Suchithra). [3]

Perumthachan is a 1991 Indian Malayalam-language Period drama film directed by Ajayan and written by M. T. Vasudevan Nair. It is based on Perumthachan of the Parayi Petta Panthirukulam, a legend in the Kerala folklore. The problems caused by the generation gap are explored through the relationship between a skilled carpenter and his tradition-breaking son. The film won the National Film Award for Best First Film of a Director and Filmfare Award for Best Film - Malayalam. It was nominated for the Golden Leopard Award and is now considered as a classic in Malayalam Cinema.
