Kuwait Central Blood Bank is the only blood bank in Kuwait being operated by the government. It is located in Jabriya behind Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital.[ citation needed ]

History and profile

It was established and founded on 25 May 1965 by Abdulaziz Al-Bashir, [1] haematologist. [2] It became an accredited member with the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) in 1989 and has been a participant of the college of American Pathologists (CAP) since 1994. [2]

Jabriya is in an area in Hawalli Governorate in Kuwait City, Kuwait. It is a large, mainly residential area that borders Surra, Hawalli, Salmiya and Bayan. Jabriya has seen an increase of commercial activities in recent years.

Kuwait Medical Association was founded in October 1963. It is an establishment which provides and represents all doctors in Kuwait. The Kuwait Medical Association headquarters are in the Kuwait Medical Professionals building. It is located in Jabriya very close to the Kuwait Central Blood Bank.

The Saudi Payments Network or mada is the only and major payment system in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia established by Ministry of Finance under the supervision of Saudi Central Bank. It connects all ATM and Point of Sale (PoS) terminals throughout the country to a central payment switch which in turn re-routes the financial transactions to the card issuer. All banks in Saudi Arabia are required by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) to issue ATM cards fully compatible with the network. The Benefit Company

The Benefit Company (TBC) is the local switch in the Kingdom of Bahrain handling ATM and POS transactions among other services. Established in 1997 with a special license from the Central Bank of Bahrain as "Provider of Ancillary Services to the Financial Sector", it is the only financial network of its kind in the country.

The Sheikhdom of Kuwait was a sheikhdom which gained independence from the Khalidi Emirate of Al Hasa under Sabah I bin Jaber in the year 1752. The Sheikhdom became a British protectorate between 1899 and 1961 after the Anglo-Kuwaiti agreement of 1899 was signed between Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah and the British government in India due to threats to Kuwait's independence from the Ottoman Empire.
