Kyle Richardson (born April 22, 1978) is an American football coach who is currently the Passing Game Coordinator and Tight Ends Coach at Clemson University. He previously served as the head coach at Northwestern High School in Rock Hill, South Carolina from 2011 to 2015.
In 2016, Richardson joined Clemson University as a Senior Offensive Assistant and served in that role until 2020. That year, he was promoted to Director of Player Development, a position previously held by Brad Scott, who left to join his son, Jeff Scott, at the University of South Florida. On December 10, 2021, Richardson was officially named Clemson's Passing Game Coordinator and Tight Ends Coach.
Some of the prominent players Richardson has helped develop include Jared Cook, Cordarrelle Patterson, Justin Worley, Mason Rudolph, and Davis Allen.
Richardson attended South Point High School in Belmont, North Carolina and earned his undergraduate degree from Appalachian State University in 2001 and has two master's degrees, including a Master's from California University and Clemson University.
Richardson started his coaching career at Avery County High School in Newland, NC while a student at Appalachian State University. From Avery County he went to Lee County High School in Sanford, NC. After 2 years at Lee County Richardson accepted a position at North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee, GA where he coached future NFL TE Jared Cook. In 2005 Richardson accepted the Wide Receiver position at Southeastern Louisiana University an NCAA Division 1-AA university in the Southland Conference.
In 2007, Richardson was hired as the Offensive Coordinator at Northwestern High School in Rock Hill, South Carolina under SC Hall of Fame Head Coach Jimmy Wallace.
In 2011, Richardson was named the head coach at Northwestern High School. During his tenure as head coach, Richardson led the Trojans to a 58–13 record, including 4 Region Championships, 3 State Championship game appearances and 2 State Championships in 2013 and 2015. In Richardson's 9 years at Northwestern he was a part of 8 Region Championships, 6 State Championship game appearances, 3 State Championship titles, and 2 undefeated seasons. On March 18, 2016, Richardson announced his resignation. [1]
In 2016, Richardson joined Clemson University as a Senior Offensive Assistant. [2]
On December 10, 2021, Richardson was promoted to passing game coordinator and tight ends coach, replacing Brandon Streeter and Tony Elliott, respectively. [3]
Richardson's parents both grew up in the Clemson area, both graduated from Seneca High School right outside of Clemson. Richardson is married to Amanda Gray Richardson who is a Senior Associate Athletic Director at Clemson. Richardson has two daughters Lexi Grace, Presley Ann and one son Cooper Gray. Richardson and family have a nonprofit foundation called WIN TODAY! Richardson Family Foundation that helps kids from low income families participate in extracurricular activities.
Shane Montgomery is an American college football coach and former player. He is an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the University of Massachusetts Amherst, positions he has held since 2024. He was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University at Buffalo. Montgomery served as the head football coach at Miami University from 2005 to 2008, compiling a record of 17–31.
The 2006 Clemson Tigers football team represented Clemson University in the 2006 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team was coached by Tommy Bowden and played their homes game in the Memorial Stadium.
Kevin Reece Wilson is an American football coach and former player who is the head coach at the University of Tulsa. He was the offensive coordinator at Ohio State University from 2017 to 2022. Wilson was head coach at Indiana University from 2011 to 2016, and offensive coordinator at the University of Oklahoma from 2002 to 2010.
Gregg Brandon is an American football coach and player. He was most recently the head football coach at the Colorado School of Mines, a position he had held from 2015 until his retirement after the 2021 season. Prior to that, he was the offensive coordinator at New Mexico State University and coached tight ends in the United Football League (UFL) for the Las Vegas Locomotives. He also spent two years as the offensive coordinator at the University of Wyoming and was offensive coordinator for the Virginia Cavaliers for the duration of the 2009 season. He was head coach for the Bowling Green Falcons, but was fired following the conclusion of the 2008 season, after six years at the helm, which included three bowl appearances and shares of two division titles. Brandon had previously been an assistant coach and offensive coordinator at Bowling Green under head coach Urban Meyer before Meyer left for the University of Utah in 2003.
The 2009 Clemson Tigers football team represented Clemson University in the 2009 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Tigers were led by head coach Dabo Swinney, who was in his first full season as head coach. The Tigers played their home games in Memorial Stadium. The Tigers won the ACC Atlantic Division, but after securing the title lost to in–state rival South Carolina in the Palmetto Bowl 34–17, before losing for the second time in the season to Georgia Tech in the ACC Championship Game. Clemson closed the season with a win over Kentucky in the Music City Bowl.
Robbie Caldwell is a retired American football coach, and previously served as the offensive line coach for Clemson University. Caldwell was formerly the head coach of the Vanderbilt Commodores football team. He has also been an assistant coach at Furman University, North Carolina State University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Vanderbilt University. On February 2, 2011 Clemson University named Caldwell offensive line coach to replace the retiring Brad Scott.
Anthony Robert Petersen is an American college football coach and former quarterback. He is the offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach for Illinois State University. Petersen played college football at Marshall, where he broke school records and won Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Year award as a senior in 1987.
Antonio "Tony" Elliott is an American football coach who is currently the head coach at the University of Virginia. He previously served as an assistant coach at Clemson University from 2011 to 2021, most recently as associate head coach, offensive coordinator, and tight ends coach, after serving most of those years as running backs coach and/or co-offensive coordinator.
Kurt Roper is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the quarterbacks backs coach at North Carolina State University. Roper was the interim head football coach at University of Colorado Boulder for the final game of the 2018 season. He previously served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of South Carolina for two seasons. He also served as the offensive coordinator at the University of Florida in 2014 and Duke University for six seasons prior to that. A native of Ames, Iowa, he was starting quarterback for Ardmore (OK) High School, where he led the Tigers to a 1990 state championship. Roper earned three varsity letters as a quarterback and defensive back at Rice before graduating in 1995. He earned a master's degree from the University of Tennessee in 1998. His coaching career has been much associated with that of David Cutcliffe.
Marcus David Satterfield is an American football coach and former player. He is the offensive coordinator and tight ends coach at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Satterfield served as the head football coach at Tennessee Tech University from 2016 to 2017. He was the offensive coordinator at the University of Tennessee at Martin (2006–2008), the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (2009–2012), and Temple University (2013–2014). He was an assistant coach at Richmond during the 2004 season and Western Carolina in 2005. Satterfield played college football at East Tennessee State University.
Jeffrey Bradford Scott is a former American football coach. He served as the head football coach at the University of South Florida from 2020 to 2022.
Willie Román Simmons is an American college football coach and former quarterback. He is the running backs coach at Duke University. He was the head football coach at Florida A&M from 2018 to 2023 and Prairie View A&M from 2014 to 2017. He has also served as offensive coordinator of the Alcorn State Braves as well as the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders football teams. Simmons played college football at Clemson and The Citadel as a quarterback.
Shawn Elliott is an American college football coach and former player who is currently the tight ends coach and run game coordinator at the University of South Carolina, a position he has held since the 2024 season. Elliott served as the interim head football coach at the University of South Carolina for the final six games of the 2015 season. He joined the South Carolina Gamecocks football coaching staff in 2010 as the team's running game coordinator under Steve Spurrier. He was later named the co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. A day after South Carolina head coach Spurrier's resignation, Elliott was elevated to the position of head coach on an interim basis. He was then the Head Coach of Georgia State University from 2017-2024. On Feb 15, 2024, Shawn Elliott addressed members of team and staff before officially resigning his position as head coach of Georgia State to become an assistant coach at South Carolina.
