Kym Valentine (born 24 May 1977) is an Australian actress, best known for her long running intermittent portrayal of Libby Kennedy in the soap opera Neighbours.
Valentine was born in Blacktown, Sydney, [1] and grew up in Granville. [2] She began dance classes when she was two and attended her first dance school aged six. [1] [2] When she was five years old, Valentine began acting in television commercials and stage plays. She appeared in about 30 commercials. [2]
Valentine's television appearances have included Brides of Christ , [1] My Two Wives , Adult Illiteracy, At Bathurst, Candid Camera , Home and Away , Swap Shop, HoopsTV and Cheez TV .
In 1994, at age 17, Valentine joined the cast of Neighbours as Libby Kennedy. [2] She moved to Melbourne to take the role and remained on the show until 2004. Valentine opted to leave, wanting to start a family and extend her acting repertoire by returning to the stage. Libby was written out of the storyline in a way allowing for her potential return.
In 2005, Valentine took the lead role of Baby in Dirty Dancing: The Classic Story on Stage at the Theatre Royal, Sydney. She was set to reprise her role when the production moved to London’s West End. In June 2007, Valentine rejoined Neighbours on a permanent basis. [2] On 8 April 2009, Valentine made an appearance as herself on The Wright Stuff , a UK TV programme. In April 2011, Valentine took indefinite leave from Neighbours.
Valentine appeared as a housewife in Nine Network's miniseries Fat Tony & Co. , which was broadcast in 2014. [3] Valentine returned to Neighbours as part of a storyline to celebrate 20 years of the Kennedy family in 2014. [4]
In 2017, Valentine was cast in Michael Wormald's independent film Choir Girl. [5] The following year, she appeared in a production of Unsolicited Male. She also starred alongside her daughter in the short film Treetment, which was filmed in Melbourne in December 2018. [6] In addition to her stage and screen work, Valentine teaches acting classes. [6]
Valentine has produced the upcoming film titled Residence. [7] Valentine also appears in the film, playing Connie the Phlegmatic. [8]
Valentine married singer Fabio Tolli. They have a daughter, Millana Valentine-Tolli (b. 21 August 2003). The couple separated in 2007. [9]
In April 2008, it emerged that Valentine was involved in a relationship with Australian actor Vince Colosimo. It was suggested that it may cause tension on the Neighbours set as Colosimo had separated from fellow Neighbours actor Jane Hall who openly blamed Valentine for the split when in fact it was Hall who ended the relationship with Colosimo over a year before he and Valentine were introduced. [10] In October 2008, Valentine publicly announced that she and Colosimo were no longer dating and that they had only ever been friends. [11]
Valentine announced her engagement to former AFL player Trent Croad in March 2015. [12] In November, Valentine and Croad confirmed they were expecting their first child together. [13] Valentine gave birth to a son named Phoenix in March 2016. [14]

On 4 July 2008, Valentine collapsed on a flight home from New York and was diagnosed with pneumonia and pneumothorax. [16] The cabin crew gave the actress oxygen during the flight and when she arrived in Melbourne was taken to hospital for further treatment where she stayed for several days before recuperating at home. [17] [18] Valentine was told that she needed to rest for a month and she could not return to work on Neighbours. [16] On 10 August 2008, it was reported that New Zealand actress Michala Banas would take over the role of Libby for a month. [19] Valentine resumed the role at the start of the 2009 series.
On 6 July 2010, Valentine was hospitalised with a life-threatening blood clot on her lung. [20] Valentine was ordered to stay in hospital for four days. [20] In December, Valentine checked herself into a clinic as she was suffering from exhaustion. [21]
Valentine returned to the Neighbours set in January 2011. [22] A few months after her return to filming, Valentine took indefinite leave from Neighbours. [22] Fiona Byrne of the Herald Sun reported the actress was undergoing treatment in hospital for a depressive illness. [22] She returned for two weeks in 2014.
Stephanie McIntosh is an Australian actress and singer. She played the role of Sky Mangel in the Australian soap opera Neighbours from 2003 to 2007. She made a brief appearance for one episode in 2015 as part of the show's 30th anniversary celebrations, and returned again in 2020 as part of the shows 35th anniversary episodes, and a cameo appearance in 2022. As a singer, she released her debut album, Tightrope, in September 2006. It peaked at No. 4 on the ARIA Albums Chart.
Carla Bonner is an Australian actress, best known for playing the role of Stephanie Scully in the Australian soap opera drama Neighbours, a role she played from 1999 to 2010. She was also a guest on Celebrity Big Brother Australia in 2002. Following her departure from Neighbours, Bonner wrote a book called Hook, Line and Sink Her and guest starred in an episode of Wentworth. She briefly reprised the role of Steph in 2013, before returning to Neighbours as a permanent cast member from October 2015 until June 2018. She briefly reprised the role in July 2022.

Louise was played by Tessa Taylor from her birth, with Jiordan Tolli taking over the role a few months later. The character was written out in 2001 when Tolli's parents and the producers felt it was the right time for her to leave. In 2006, it was announced that Louise would be returning to Neighbours and Adelaide Kane was cast in the role, after winning the Dolly "Neighbours Next Big Stars" competition. Kane's contract was not renewed and Louise departed on 29 June 2007. The character returned for one episode on 4 October 2013 with Tolli in the role.

Samantha "Sam" Fitzgerald is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Neighbours, played by Simone Buchanan. She made her first screen appearance during the episode broadcast on 21 March 2008. After departing on 25 June 2008, she made a brief return on 24 November 2008. Samantha's main storylines focused on her marriage to Daniel Fitzgerald, her bipolar disorder, which was triggered by a miscarriage prior to her introduction, and a pregnancy. In June 2010, executive producer Susan Bower announced that Buchanan had reprised her role and Samantha returned on 1 November 2010. She was the lead prosecutor in Stephanie Scully's culpable driving trial. The character departed on 24 November 2010. Buchanan reprised the role ten years later, and returned on 6 April 2020.

Cassandra Freedman is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Neighbours, played by Tottie Goldsmith. She made her first screen appearance during the episode broadcast on 10 February 2009. Goldsmith did not have to audition for the role of Cassandra and was instead chosen by the producers for the role. The actress began filming her first scenes at the end of September 2008. She was initially contracted for six weeks, but this was extended after she impressed the producers with her performance. Gemma Pranita is a Thai-born Australian actress. Pranita was encouraged to join the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) by her drama teacher, and from 1999 to 2003, she competed at state level in the Shakespeare Globe Association's annual Shakespeare festival. Pranita formed a theatre company called Cry Havoc! with her best friend in 2006. After graduating from WAAPA, Pranita joined the Bell Shakespeare theatre company. She has also had roles in the films, Crush and Resistance. From 2010 until 2012, Pranita played Jade Mitchell in the Australian soap opera Neighbours. She briefly reprised the role in March 2019.
