History

LNK was founded in Lapės after the reorganization of "LitPoliinter TV", when its main shareholder on 1 April 1995 became Lithuanian Agricultural Bank (other shareholders were the companies "Vilniaus Vingis", "Griaustinio Aidas", and the Lithuanian Workers' Union) and launched throughout Lithuania on 5 May 1995. LNK mainly retransmitted Russian programs from ORT (now Channel One Russia), including its news bulletin Vremya.

In 1996, they were replaced by original content [3] and news from CNN. [4] That year, an office was established in Vilnius. [5] In the summer of 1997, a number of curated shows (such as "Dviračio šou") moved to Baltic Television. in 1997 in October, 46$ British Pacific Media Management [6] purchased the company's shares from "Vilniaus vingis", the company "Anoma" and the association of depositors affected by "LitPoliinter". in 1998 in January, Hubertas Grušnys and Clear Channel Communication International purchased 10% of LNK's shares from Aleksandars Ambrazevičius and 46% of the shares from British Pacific Media Management. [7] In September of the same year, 44 percent LNK's shares, which belonged to the Lithuanian Agricultural Bank, and 56 percent. the shares belonging to H. Grušniis were purchased by the Bonnier group. [8] After this acquisition, a number of employees of the LNK News Service transferred to Baltic Television. i«In 2000 part of the former employees and shows returned to LNK.

In 2012, LNK switched to Digital television. LNK shows mostly Lithuanian shows, series and more.

In November 2018, LNK launched a high-definition channel, LNK HD. [9]

The channel ceased broadcasts to Latvia on 14 December 2021 as one of 38 foreign channels considered to be "no longer relevant" by the NEPLP. [1]
