LaVel Maurice Freeman (born February 18,1963) is a former Major League Baseball player.
Freeman was born in Oakland,California in 1963 and attended John F. Kennedy High School in Sacramento. In 1981,he played with fellow future Major Leaguer Greg Vaughn on an American Legion Baseball team which won the California state title. [1] He was drafted out of high school by the Chicago White Sox in the 30th round of the 1981 MLB draft but did not sign. [2] He went on to attend Sacramento City College and was drafted in the January phase of the 1983 MLB draft by the Milwaukee Brewers. [3]
In 1987,Freeman hit .395 for the El Paso Diablos. As of September 2018 [update] this is the second-highest minor league batting average since the modern era of Minor League Baseball began in 1963. [4] It was the highest batting average in Texas League history since Danny Clark hit .399 with the San Antonio Bears in 1925. He was later inducted into the Texas League Hall of Fame. [5]
Freeman made his Major League debut with the Milwaukee Brewers at Tiger Stadium in 1989 as the team's starting designated hitter [6] He was twice struck out by Doyle Alexander in three plate appearances. [7] The following day he appeared as a pinch runner for Joey Meyer,eventually coming around to score on a Juan Castillo sacrifice fly. [8]
On June 29,1989,Freeman was traded to the Texas Rangers in a deal that brought Scott May to the Brewers. [9]

Dale Curtis Sveum is an American former Major League Baseball (MLB) player and manager. He most recently served as the bench coach for the Kansas City Royals. As a player,Sveum saw action in 12 major league seasons between 1986 and 1999. He was a member of the Milwaukee Brewers,Philadelphia Phillies,Chicago White Sox,Oakland Athletics,Seattle Mariners,Pittsburgh Pirates,and New York Yankees. Following his playing career,Sveum managed in minor league baseball for several seasons before becoming an MLB coach. Sveum briefly served as manager of the Brewers in 2008 during his tenure as hitting coach for the team. He was later named manager of the Cubs after the 2011 season and served for two seasons. His cousin is former Blue Jays All-Star John Olerud.
David Valle is an American former professional baseball player. He played as a catcher in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Seattle Mariners,Boston Red Sox,Milwaukee Brewers,and Texas Rangers from 1984 to 1996. He attended Holy Cross High School in Flushing,New York. In 1995,Valle founded Esperanza International,a microfinance organization that serves families in poverty in the Dominican Republic. He's been an on air analyst for MLB Network since 2009,including appearing on MLB Now and MLB Tonight.
Marcus Christian Jensen is an American professional baseball coach and former player. He played as a catcher for the San Francisco Giants,Detroit Tigers,Milwaukee Brewers,St. Louis Cardinals,Minnesota Twins,Boston Red Sox and Texas Rangers in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1996 through 2002. After retiring as a player,Jensen coached and managed in the minor leagues. Since 2015,he has served as a coach for the Oakland Athletics of MLB.
Scott Robert Thorman is a Canadian former first baseman and current coach who is the minor league field coordinator for the Kansas City Royals. In 2022,he was manager of the Omaha Storm Chasers,the Triple-A affiliate of the Royals. He was previously manager of the Northwest Arkansas Naturals,the Royals' Double-A affiliate. Managing the Royals’former Advanced-A affiliate Wilmington Blue Rocks in 2019,he won the Mills Cup Championship. Thorman was drafted in the first round,30th overall in the 2000 Major League Baseball draft by the Atlanta Braves. Thorman played for Canada in the inaugural 2006 World Baseball Classic and Thorman also played in the 2009 World Baseball Classic.
William Derrick Bates is an American former professional baseball second baseman and pinch runner who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Milwaukee Brewers and the Cincinnati Reds. In 29 career games,Bates had a batting average of .125 with six hits,two runs batted in (RBI),11 runs,and eight stolen bases. Though his defensive position was at second base,the Reds primarily used Bates as a pinch runner. After he scored the winning run in Game 2 of the 1990 World Series,Bates never played in MLB again.

Scott Francis May is a former Major League Baseball pitcher. May was originally drafted in the sixth round of the 1983 Major League Baseball Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. In 1987,he was traded to the Texas Rangers for Javier Ortiz. He played at the Major League level with the Rangers in 1988.
