Lachman Singh was a leader of the Indian National Congress from Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He was nominated as Member of Parliament to 2nd Lok Sabha representing Andaman and Nicobar Islands the lower house of India's Parliament as a member of the Indian National Congress. [1]
The Andaman Islands are an archipelago,made up of 200 islands,in the northeastern Indian Ocean about 130 km (81 mi) southwest off the coasts of Myanmar's Ayeyarwady Region. Together with the Nicobar Islands to their south,the Andamans serve as a maritime boundary between the Bay of Bengal to the west and the Andaman Sea to the east. Most of the islands are part of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands,a Union Territory of India,while the Coco Islands and Preparis Island are part of the Yangon Region of Myanmar.

In 2010,after being denied a ticket in an election,he left the INC and later joined the Trinamool Congress.

He was co-founders of Congress for Democracy along with Jagjivan Ram,Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna,and Nandini Satpathy left the Indian National Congress of Indira Gandhi and denounced her rule during the Indian Emergency.
