Lagos East senatorial district

The Lagos East senatorial district in Lagos State, Nigeria covers the local government areas of Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, Ikorodu, Kosofe, and Somolu. [1] The senator currently representing the district is Tokunbo Abiru of the All Progressives Congress who was elected with 87.2% of the vote in 2020. [2] [3]

Peter Onyeluka Nwaoboshi is a Nigerian politician. He is the senator representing Delta North senatorial district in the Nigerian Senate. He is a senator of the 8th and 9th National Assembly. He was sacked shortly after being announced senator elect during the 2019 general elections by a Federal High Court in Abuja as Senator-elect on allegations that he was not validly elected by his political party. The Appeal Court in Abuja however overturned the decision on 30 May 2019. The lead judge held that the Federal High Court that nullified his election had no jurisdiction over the case.

The 2023 Nigerian gubernatorial elections were held for state governors in 31 out of 36 Nigerian states. All but three elections were held on 18 March—concurrent with elections to every state house of assembly, three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections—while the Imo State, Kogi State, and Bayelsa State elections will be held on 11 November. The last regular gubernatorial elections for all states were in 2019. All states have a two term limit for Governors which makes 18 incumbent governors ineligible for re-election.

The 2023 Lagos State gubernatorial election took place on 18 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Lagos State, concurrent with elections to the Lagos State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—was held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was eligible to run for re-election and was renominated by his party.

The 2019 Nigerian Senate election in Lagos State held on February 23, 2019, to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Lagos State. Solomon Olamilekan Adeola representing Lagos West, Oluremi Tinubu representing Lagos Central. The late Osinowo Sikiru Adebayo represented Lagos East but his death brought Tokunbo Abiru to replace him after a bye-election in 2020. All won on the platform of All Progressives Congress.
