Lalitha Killaka is a para athlete from Andhra Pradesh. She was part of the Indian team at the 2022 Asian Para Games at Hangzhou, China. [1] She won a silver [2] [3] medal finishing second behind Rakhitha Raju in the women 1500m T11 on 25 October 2023. [4] [5] [6]

Early life and education

Lalitha is a visually challenged tribal girl from Gummalakshmipuram in Vizianagaram district, Andhra Pradesh. [7] She is doing her schooling at Netra Vidyalaya run by Chinna Jeer Swami ji and finished her Class X in 2020. She is currently studying 2nd year degree in Netra Vidyalaya college. She is trained by coach Rahul Balakrishna. [8] Tabares Khan is her guide runner. Her father K Borja [9] and mother Chitamma are farm labourers. They have four children. [7] Her school founder a cash prize of Rs.3,00,000 for her and Rs.50,000 for her guide runner. [8]

Career

Lalitha career high came when she won a medal at the Asian Para Games, a silver in the 1500m in October 2023. [4] Earlier in May 2023, she won a silver at the 5th Indian Open Para Athletics International Championship at Shree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru. [10]

Later, Shanshan was disqualified and Raju was promoted to take the gold medal. She clocked 5 minutes, 21.45 seconds. Being a visually handicapped runner, Rakshitha completed the race with the help of a guide Rahul Balakrishna.

Rachana Patel is a para athlete from Gujarat. She won a bronze medals at the 2022 Asian Para Games. She claimed bronze in Badminton women's double in the SH6 category along with Nithya Sre Sivan on 25 October 2023 at Hangzhou, China.

Mandeep Kaur is a para athlete from Uttarakhand. She won two bronze medals at the 2022 Asian Para Games. She claimed bronze in Badminton women's double in the SL3 category along with Manisha Ramadass on 27 October 2023 at Hangzhou, China. Earlier on 25 October 2023, she won a bronze in the individual women's singles SL3 event.
