The design was built by Lancer Yachts in the United States, between 1983 and 1985, but it is now out of production. [1] [3] [4]

Design

The Lancer 40 is a recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass, with wood trim. It has a masthead sloop rig, a center cockpit, a raked stem, an angled transom, with a fixed swimming platform, a skeg-mounted rudder controlled by a wheel and a fixed fin keel. It displaces 15,500 lb (7,031 kg) and carries 4,500 lb (2,041 kg) of ballast. [1] [3]

The boat has a draft of 6.30 ft (1.92 m) with the standard keel and is fitted with an inboard motor for cruising, docking and maneuvering. [1] [3]

The design has a hull speed of 7.77 kn (14.39 km/h). [3]
