Langtang is a town and LGA in Plateau State, Nigeria. The town is located in the southern part of Plateau state and connected to Tunkus, Shendam, Kanam and Wase through paved roads.
It has the local government secretariat and the Ponzhi Tarok palace situated at the heart of the town. It is the home to Prominent Nigeria Military Generals, who include Generals Domkat Bali (deceased), Joseph Nanven Garba (deceased), Jeremiah Useni, Joshua Dogonyaro (deceased), John Shagaya, Jonathan Temlong, Musa Gambo, Yakubu Rimdam, and Ishaku Pennap. Others are Air Marshal Jonah Wuyep, Air Vice Marshal Napoleon B. Bali, General Samuel Nankpak Abashe, Air Commodore Bernard Banfa and General Muhammad A. Najib as well. It is also hometown to elder statesmen; Chief Solomon Lar (the first Civilian Governor of Plateau State) (deceased), Chief Ezekiel S. Yusuf (deceased) (the first Executive Chairman of Langtang Local Government) and Reverend Canon Selchang Miner.
Langtang has a General Hospital and schools spread across the Local Government amongst which are Federal Government Girls College, Langtang, Government Secondary School Langtang. The town has two dams and a water treatment plant that caters for its populace. The major tribe is Tarok, their language is Tarok, and their major religions are Christianity and ATR. They produce farm produce like groundnuts, millet, guinea corn, etc. [1]

The "Langtang Mafia" is a rumored clique of military men from Langtang, Plateau State who hold or have held positions of power in the Nigerian government. The term is often used in reference to the 1985 – 1993 Babangida junta. Purported members have included Lt Gen Joshua Dogonyaro, Lt Gen Jeremiah Useni (retired), Gen Domkat Bali, Brig Gen John Nanzip Shagaya, and Lt Gen Muhammad A. Najib (retired) as well.
Domkat Yah Bali was a Nigerian army four-star general, who was Minister of Defence and Chief of Defence Staff from 1984 to 1990, and a member of the Supreme Military Council of 1984–1985, and the Armed Forces Ruling Council of 1985–1990.

John Nanzip Shagaya was a Nigerian senator and former military officer who was elected in April 2007 to represent the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State as member of the Nigerian Senate for Plateau South. He ran for reelection in April 2011 on the Labour Party (LP) platform, but was defeated by Victor Lar of the PDP. As a non commissioned officer (NCO) with the 2nd Reconnaissance Squadron in Abeokuta, he participated in the Nigerian counter-coup of 1966.
Chief (Dr.) Solomon Daushep Lar was a Nigerian politician who has held various offices at the National level for over 50 years. He was a member of the first national parliament when Nigeria gained independence in 1960. He was elected governor of Plateau State on the Nigerian People's Party (NPP) platform during the Nigerian Second Republic, holding office from October 1979 until the Military coup of 31 December 1983 that brought General Muhammadu Buhari to power. Later, he was founding chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

Solomon Selcap Dalung is a Nigerian Politician, Lawyer and Academic. He was made the Minister of Youth and Sports by President Muhammadu Buhari in November 2015 and his tenure ended in May 2019. He has served in the Nigerian Prisons Service, the University of Jos as a lecturer and as Chairman of Langtang South Local Government in Plateau State.
New Karshi is a town in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Nigeria, founded in the 1980s by Muhammadu Bako II. It is a semi-autonomous local government created out of Karu LGA as Karshi Development area with the administrative secretariat in Uke. Karshi has a local government chairman as its administrative head and a seat in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly. The 2023 Plateau State gubernatorial election will take place on 11 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Plateau State, concurrent with elections to the Plateau State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election will be held two weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Simon Lalong is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term.
The 2023 Nigerian presidential election in Plateau State will be held on 25 February 2023 as part of the nationwide 2023 Nigerian presidential election to elect the president and vice president of Nigeria. Other federal elections, including elections to the House of Representatives and the Senate, will also be held on the same date while state elections will be held two weeks afterward on 11 March.
