The Lanzhou Olympic Center Stadium is the centerpiece of the Lanzhou Olympic Sports Center, a multi-venue complex in Qilihe District, Lanzhou, China. Designed to host international sports events and cultural performances, it is the largest stadium in Gansu Province and a key venue for the 2022 Gansu Provincial Games. [1]
Construction began on July 27, 2019, as part of a ¥54.14 billion project to address Lanzhou’s lack of large-scale sports infrastructure. [2] The stadium’s structural framework was completed by March 2022, featuring 46,000 steel tubes and 340 cast steel components assembly, with a maximum cantilever span of 44.5 meters. [3] It passed final inspections in May 2022 after overcoming challenges like complex geological conditions along the Yellow River and intricate steel-truss installations. The stadium officially opened on September 17, 2022, hosting the 15th Gansu Provincial Games’ opening ceremony.
