Lara McAllen is an English singer, songwriter and vocal producer.
McAllen is the singer for the dance-pop music project Angel City. She began dancing at the age of five, and briefly pursued a modelling career before becoming a backing dancer for the pop singer Shakira at age 19. [1] She then began her career as a dance music vocalist with Angel City when she signed her first recording contract with Ministry of Sound at age 20. Her debut single Love Me Right was picked up by Radio 1 as a “Record of the week” and soon crossed over from dance floor hit to mainstream chart hit both in the UK and Europe. Love Me Right topped the US Dance Chart as well as entering the Billboard chart. Before Angel City, Lara found dancefloor success with Stuart's 2001 house release "Free (Let It Be)", released through Incentive, an offshoot of Ministry of Sound.
While originally credited as a featured vocalist in Angel City, McAllen later joined the group (of producers) as lead singer and performed all the tracks on the debut album "Love Me Right". McAllen had further UK Top 10 records with Angel City before pursuing work both in vocal production and songwriting . She has also presented for Sky TV Channels on programmes such as FYC as well as co-presenting on Capital Disney Radio and Liverpool’s Radio City. McAllen has appeared on TV shows such as Never Mind the Buzzcocks, CD:UK, Des and Mel, This Morning and performed her debut single Love Me Right on Top of the Pops.
Between 2008 and 2010, several collaborations featuring McAllen (both vocals and songwriting) featured on Clubland albums were released through All Around the World. Having claimed that she was happier away from the performance side, McAllen again performs lead vocals on Angel City's most recent single "How Do You Sleep", a dance cover of Jesse McCartney's single.
McAllen has appeared in various media shoots including OK! , Hello! and Marie Claire , as well as shoots for Loaded , Maxim and FHM .
In October 2023, having spent more than ten years away from the industry McAllen returned to the Clubland family to perform as Angel City at the Clubland Weekender Festival; while announcing on a brand new Instagram page that she had returned to the recording studio.
McAllen is married to an IT business owner and they have two children. They celebrated with a Christian wedding ceremony in Italy with only close family and friends present. Together they own property development and management businesses.

Marcella Levy, known professionally as Marcy Levy and Marcella Detroit, is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. She co-wrote the 1977 Eric Clapton hit "Lay Down Sally" and released her debut studio album Marcella in 1982. She joined Shakespears Sister in 1988 with ex-Bananarama member Siobhan Fahey. Their first two studio albums, Sacred Heart (1989), and Hormonally Yours (1992), both reached the top 10 of the UK Albums Chart. Detroit sang the lead vocals on their biggest hit, "Stay", which spent eight consecutive weeks at number one on the UK Singles Chart in 1992. Caron Melina Wheeler is an English singer, songwriter, record producer and musician. Born and raised in London, she performed in various singing competitions as a teenager and began her recording career as one of the founding members of Brown Sugar. She was also one of the founding members of the female backing vocalist group Afrodiziak. She officially rose to fame in the late 1980s as lead singer of R&B group Soul II Soul. Managed by her bandmate, Jazzie B, the group became one of the London's best-selling groups in the 1990s. Martha Elaine Wash is an American singer-songwriter, actress, and producer. Known for her distinctive and powerful voice, Wash first achieved fame as half of the Two Tons O' Fun, who sang backing vocals for the disco singer Sylvester including on his signature hit "You Make Me Feel ". After gaining their own record deal, they released three consecutive commercially successful songs which all peaked at number two in the dance charts. The duo was renamed The Weather Girls in 1982 after they released the top-selling single "It's Raining Men", which brought them to mainstream pop attention. Charlotte Kelly is a British singer-songwriter, composer, arranger, and record producer. "Love Made Me Do It" is a pop song written by Cheryl, Nicola Roberts, Natasha Bedingfield, Kylie Minogue and Miranda Cooper, as well as its producers The Invisible Men and Dylan Cooper. Lyrically, it speaks of Cheryl's failed relationships and how easy she finds it to fall in love. The song debuted at number 19 on the UK Singles Chart and spent one week in the Top 40. The accompanying music video was directed by Sophie Muller and shows the singer dancing with alternative camera shots and cuts.
