Larissa Takchi (born 1997) is an Australian cook who won the eleventh series of MasterChef Australia in 2019. [2] [3] At 22 years old, to date she was the youngest contestant to win the competition. [4] [5]
Larissa Takchi was born in Sydney, into a family of Lebanese origin. [6] Her grandparents had emigrated from Lebanon to Australia, and founded a stone fruit farm in Glenorie. [7] Her mother owned a cafe in Dural. [6] Prior to winning MasterChef Australia, she served as the general manager of her mother's cafe. [6]
In high school she attended Hillside Public School, followed by Mount St Benedict College. [6] Takchi attended Macquarie University, where she studied business. [6]
Takchi was selected in the 2019 auditions to join the 'Top 24' as a contestant on MasterChef Australia. On 23 July 2019, Takchi was announced as the winner of MasterChef 2019 and received a cash prize of $250,000, a new Holden Equinox car, and a monthly column in Delicious magazine for 12 months. Her winning dish was "Szechuan Pavlova", a dessert featuring beetroot and blackberry sorbet, Sichuan (Szechuan) pepper, and lemon cream. [8] [2]

Matt Preston is an English-Australian food critic, writer, food journalist, television and radio presenter. He is best known for his role as a judge on Network Ten's MasterChef Australia between 2009 and 2019, and Seven Network's My Kitchen Rules in 2022. He also has a weekly national food column that appears in NewsCorp's metro newspapers. Preston is also a senior editor for Delicious. and Taste magazines, and the author of at least four best-selling cookbooks.
Poh Ling Yeow is a Malaysian-born Australian cook, artist, actress, author and television presenter. She has hosted multiple cooking shows including ABC's Poh's Kitchen and SBS's Poh & Co. She has also published multiple cook books. She was the runner-up on the first season of Network 10's Masterchef Australia behind winner Julie Goodwin. Since appearing on season 1, she has made multiple comebacks to the series as a guest judge/mentor and returned as a contestant on the twelfth season in 2020.
Julie Goodwin is an Australian cook, author, radio and television presenter. She came to public attention when she won the inaugural season of MasterChef Australia in 2009, defeating artist Poh Ling Yeow in the final.
Worst Cooks in America is an American reality television series that premiered on January 3, 2010, on Food Network. The show takes 12 to 16 contestants with very poor cooking skills through a culinary boot camp, to earn a cash prize of $25,000 and a Food Network cooking set. In the celebrity edition of the show, the winning celebrity gets a $50,000 prize to donate to the charity of their choice. The recruits are trained on the various basic cooking techniques including baking, knife skills, temperature, seasoning and preparation. The final challenge is to cook a restaurant-quality, three-course meal for three food critics.
