The Las Vegas International Film and Screenplay Festival (LVIFSF) is a film festival held annually in Las Vegas, Nevada. Founded in 2015 (as the Las Vegas International Film and Screenwriting Contest), the festival was previously based at the Palms Casino Resort, with screenings of selected films held in nearby theaters and screening rooms. The festival also grants awards by genre, technical discipline, and lifetime achievement over two nights during the program. [1] [2]

In 2020, the festival program was moved to a virtual format due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On August 21, 2021, the festival announced it would once again host the program, including screenings, virtually. [3]

The Las Vegas International Film and Screenplay Festival is directed by Annette Hull, documentary filmmaker and former General Manager of the Tri-Cities Rattlers football organization in the Northwest Football League. Notable past honorees include Academy Award-nominee Eric Roberts and Emmy Award-winner Michael Learned, and 2019 indie breakout Princess of the Row, starring Martin Sheen. [4] [5]

Sections

The Las Vegas International Film and Screenplay Festival official program is divided into two sections: film and written word. Entries are submitted and judged separately, by section, with Official Selections named for each. Honors and awards are bestowed in separate ceremonies on different nights during the festival. Special Awards

Lifetime Achievement

In 2019, the Festival announced the creation of a lifetime achievement award to be awarded to an artist of renown, with substantial contributions to the industry. In 2019, the program honored actress and four-time Emmy Award-winner Michael Learned [6] with the inaugural award. The award was not given in 2020, due to the cancellation of all in-person events and ceremonies.

Writer of the Year

In 2019, the Festival presented a "Writer of the Year" honor to Harold Brown. [7]

Audience Award

Some films presented during the Festival are eligible for Audience Awards. After screening an eligible film, audience members are invited to vote in audience award categories. At the November 2021 edition of the festival, Benjamin Bryant's psychological drama Station to Station received the Audience Award. [8]

The Provincetown International Film Festival (PIFF) is an annual film festival founded in 1999 and held on Cape Cod in Provincetown, Massachusetts. The festival presents American and international narrative features, documentaries and short films for five days in June of each year.

Long Island International Film Expo

The Long Island International Film Expo, founded in 1997 by Nassau County Film Office Director, Debra Markowitz. The festival generally receives between 400 and 450 submissions every year In 2009, 170 films from 23 countries were screened at the festival. Ed Burns, director of films such as The Brothers McMullen and Newlyweds was awarded a Creative Achievement Award during the 2011 festival. The festival hosts several panels on film distribution, screenwriting, and other relevant industry topics.

The Italian Contemporary Film Festival (ICFF) is a not-for-profit, publicly attended Italian film festival, programming both films from Italy, and Canadian films about Italian-Canadian culture. Founded in 2012 in Toronto, ICFF has grown from a 4-day, single-venue festival of 18 films, to a 10-day, 9-city festival of over 130 feature films, documentaries and short films.

Lee Isaac Chung American film director and screenwriter

Lee Isaac Chung is an American film director and screenwriter. His debut feature Munyurangabo (2007) was an Official Selection at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival and the first narrative feature film in the Kinyarwanda language. He also directed the feature films Lucky Life (2010) and Abigail Harm (2012). His semi-autobiographical film Minari (2020) won both the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival. For Minari, he received numerous other major awards and nominations, including the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film and nominations for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay at the 93rd Academy Awards.

Kyiv International Short Film Festival (KISFF) is an annual festival held in Kyiv and aimed at acquainting audiences with international short films. Latest movies, winners of international festivals, retrospectives of extraordinary figures and special attention to modern and classic Ukrainian movies all feature in the festival. KISFF also organizes projects and events to develop a diversity of short films in Ukraine.

The Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFest) is a public exhibition to showcase international and local films in Malaysia. Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre is a French film actress, director, producer, and screenwriter. Beginning as an actress in primarily French film and television, she transitioned into film directing and screenwriting. In 2019, she directed, associated produced, and co-wrote her debut feature film, The Mustang. <i>Red Rocket</i> (film) 2021 film by Sean Baker

Red Rocket is a 2021 American dark comedy drama film directed by Sean Baker from a screenplay co-written with Chris Bergoch. It stars Simon Rex, Bree Elrod, and Suzanna Son. The plot follows a porn star (Rex) who returns to his hometown and begins a relationship with an adolescent girl (Son). The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in competition for the Palme d'Or on July 14, 2021. It was released in limited theaters on December 10, 2021, by A24. It received praise for its direction and Rex's performance and received a variety of awards and nominations. The National Board of Review listed it among the top ten films of the year. Rex also won Best Actor awards from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association and the Independent Spirit Awards.

Open City Documentary Festival Documentary film festival in the UK

The Open City Documentary Festival is a London-based documentary film festival run in early September. Its mission is to create an open space to support the art of creative documentary and non-fiction filmmakers. The festival offers awards in three categories: Open City Award, given by the Open City jury; Emerging International Filmmaker Award, for first or second-time feature filmmaker; and UK Short Award, for engaging short-forms of a documentary.

<i>Station to Station</i> (2021 film) 2021 American independent drama film

Station to Station is a 2021 psychological drama written and directed by Benjamin Bryant. Filmed in a production bubble during the coronavirus pandemic, Station to Station was selected as the opening night feature for the 2021 Las Vegas International Film and Screenwriting Festival, where it received multiple jury nominations including for Best Film, and won two, including the festival's Audience Award. The film was released in the United States on January 8, 2022.
