"Last night" is a song by Australian singer-songwriter Graace. It was released on 6 September 2018 as the second single from Graace's debut extended play Self Sabotage (2018). The song was certified gold in Australia in July 2019. [2]
Graace said the song was written at a point when she realised her self-sabotaging nature:
"I was in the studio with Xavier and we had both recently gotten out of toxic relationships. We came to the conclusion we weren't happy within ourselves and that's what caused these relationships to fail. We weren't accepting the good things that came our way because we didn't think we deserved the love." [3]
The music video was directed by Sejon Im and released on 3 October 2018.
AIRIT said "'Last Night' features breathy sultry vocal anchored by anthemic piano chords and alt pop production." [1]
Max Lewis from Purple Sneakers said "Simple piano chords and isolated vocals give way to a gorgeously packed chorus with layered vocals and quiet synths. The track flows between downtrodden verses and uplifting choruses, as though the narrator is coming to some sort of realisation after a long time of struggling." [4]

The song is a power ballad that combines rock, R&B, gospel, and orchestral music.

It was ultimately used as part of the soundtrack to the film Saturday Night Fever. It was a number-three hit in the United Kingdom and Australia. In the United States, it topped the Billboard Hot 100 on 25 December 1977, ended the 10-week reign of Debby Boone's "You Light Up My Life" and stayed in the Top 10 for 17 weeks, being the first song to spend 17+ weeks in the top ten since Chubby Checker's The Twist. It was also the longest song to be in the top ten in one run. It would hold the record until "End of the Road" by Boyz II Men. The single spent 19 weeks in the top ten after the introduction of Nielsen Soundscan in 1991 allowed singles to achieve longer runs on the charts. It spent six weeks atop the US adult contemporary chart. It is listed at No. 22 on Billboard's All Time Top 100. "FM " is a song by American jazz-rock band Steely Dan, the title theme for the 1978 film FM. It made the US Top 40 that year when released as a single, a success relative to the film. Musically, it is a complex jazz-rock composition driven by its bass, guitar and piano parts, typical of the band's sound from this period; its lyrics look askance at the album-oriented rock format of many FM radio stations at that time, in contrast to the film's celebration of that medium.
