Laura Jones (born 4 January 1983) is a Welsh hammer thrower.
Jones was born in Wrexham. Her personal best throw is 64.74 metres, achieved in August 2010 in Hendon. This places her seventh on the British outdoor all-time list, behind Lorraine Shaw, Shirley Webb, Zoe Derham, Carys Parry, Sophie Hitchon and Sarah Holt. Jones is also ranked second all-time amongst Welsh throwers, behind Parry. [1] She represented Wales at the Commonwealth Games for a third consecutive time in 2010. Laura now teaches at a primary school in Cheshire. Since this series of events, she has been married and is now known as Laura Jones.

Leisel Marie Jones, OAM is an Australian former competition swimmer and Olympic gold medallist. A participant in the 2000 Summer Olympics – at just 15 years old – and 2004 Summer Olympics, she was part of gold-medal-winning Australian team in the women's 4×100-metre medley relay at the Athens Games in 2004 and a gold medallist for 100-metre breaststroke in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

Myrtle Sharon Mary Augee is a female retired English shot putter. Augee now works as a custodial manager in a prison and received an MBE in the Queen’s 2009 birthday honours list.
Philippa Kate Roles OLY was a Welsh discus thrower who competed at two Olympic and four Commonwealth Games. Roles was British junior athlete of the year – an honour presented at Buckingham Palace. She was the first British discus thrower to medal at junior European level; and narrowly missed out on a medal at under 23 level, finishing 4th. She competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens and at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
Shelley Jean Newman, now Parr and, is a female retired English discus thrower. She was born in Carshalton, London and competed for Great Britain at the 2004 Summer Olympics.
Carys Parry is a Welsh hammer thrower.
Dani Stevens is a retired Australian discus thrower who in 2009 became the youngest ever female world champion in the event. She is the current national and Oceanian record holder. Stevens qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and threw 58.77m in the Women's dicus throw. This was not a sufficient distance to qualify her for the final.
Francesca Victoria R. "Frankie" Jones is a retired Welsh rhythmic gymnast who represented Wales at three successive Commonwealth Games. At the 2014 Commonwealth Games Jones won both the Ribbon event in rhythmic gymnastics and the David Dixon Award.

Hollie Beth Arnold, is a British parasport athlete competing in category F46 javelin. Although born in Grimsby, she now lives and trains in Loughborough. She represents Wales in the Commonwealth Games. Arnold was the youngest ever field athlete to ever compete in the Paralympics/Olympics, at the age of 14 at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing throwing a personal best. She also threw a personal best in 2012 Summer Paralympics in London. She took the gold medal in the F46 javelin in the 2016 Rio Paralympics, also throwing a new world record at the same time. In 2021, at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, she took the bronze medal in the same event. In 2018, she became the first ever Javelin thrower in history to hold all four major titles in the same Paralympic/Olympic 4-year cycle: Rio Paralympics and world record 2016, London World Championships and world record 2017, Berlin European Championships and course record 2018 and Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and world record 2018. She also holds four consecutive world titles: 2013 Lyon, 2015 Doha, 2017 London, and 2019 Dubai.
Tesni Evans is a professional squash player who represents Wales and is a five time Welsh national squash champion. She reached a career-high world ranking of World No.9 in November 2018, becoming the highest-ranked Welsh woman of all-time and the first to break into the Top 10. Evans has represented Team Wales in the 2014 Commonwealth Games, the 2018 Commonwealth Games and in the WSF World Team Championships.
Wales competed at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. Prior to the games the Commonwealth Games Council for Wales set itself a target of 27 medals, surpassing the 2010 total of 20 medals won in Delhi. After the withdrawal of World champion competitors Helen Jenkins, Non Stanford and Becky James, Chef de Mission Brian Davies conceded that the initial target was optimistic, but the target was actually attained by 30 July, the sixth day of the competition. Wales finished 13th in the overall medal table, but joint 8th, with Nigeria, in terms of the total medals won.
Laura Halford is a British rhythmic gymnast from Cricklade, Wiltshire. Halford is a four times senior British champion, and two times junior British champion. She represented Wales at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Janieve Russell is a Jamaican track and field athlete who competes mainly in the 400 metres hurdles and the 400 metres sprint. She won an Olympic bronze medal in the 4 × 400 m relay in Tokyo 2021, where she also finished fourth in the 400m hurdles final in a personal best of 53.08 secs. She is a four-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist, winning the 400m hurdles title in 2018 and 2022, and the 4 × 400 m relay in 2014 and 2018. She has also won two relay silvers at the World Championships and a relay gold at the World Indoor Championships.
Caryl Parry Jones is a Welsh singer, actress and presenter. She was born in the Flintshire village of Ffynnongroyw and attended Ysgol Glan Clwyd in St. Asaph, but now lives in Cowbridge, in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Lauren Louise Price is a Welsh professional boxer, former amateur boxer and former kickboxer and footballer. She has held the British welterweight title since May 2023, and is the first female to hold the title. While representing Wales in the amateur sport she won a bronze medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, becoming the first Welsh woman to win a Commonwealth Games boxing medal. Four years later she surpassed this achievement by winning gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, followed by a gold at the 2019 World Championships. While representing Great Britain, she won gold medals at the 2019 European Games and 2020 Summer Olympics.
Professor Laura McAllister is a Welsh academic, former international footballer and senior sports administrator. As a Wales women's national football team player, McAllister won 24 caps and served as team captain. She is currently Professor of Public Policy and the Governance of Wales at the Wales Governance Centre at Cardiff University. She was formerly Professor of Governance at Liverpool University. She was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2016 Birthday Honours for services to sport. She was a board member of Stonewall from 2012 to 2015, and is currently a board member of the Institute of Welsh Affairs. She is Chair of the Welsh Sports Hall of Fame and a Non-executive Director of Goodson Thomas boutique executive search agency. She was honoured as one of the BBC 100 Women in December 2022. Since the 5 April 2023 she has also been a Vice-President of UEFA.

Sarah Winifred Parry was a Welsh writer most known for developing the modern Welsh short story. She used her nickname Winnie Parry as her pen name. She became a household name with her serialized fiction in periodicals at the turn of the twentieth century. Her most acclaimed work, Sioned, first published as a serial between 1894 and 1896 was introduced as a novel in 1906 and was reissued in 1988 and 2003.
Adele Nicoll is a British shot putter, discus thrower and bobsledder. She has won multiple Welsh Athletics Championships events, and won the shot put event at the 2022 British Athletics Championships. She came second in the 2021–22 Bobsleigh World Cup event in Sigulda, Latvia alongside Mica McNeill. Nicoll was a reserve for the 2022 Winter Olympics, and competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
