LeJuene Thompson (born May 15, 1970, as Frances LeJuene Hayes), is an American gospel musician and artist. She started her music career, in 2001, with the release of Soul Inspiration by EMI Gospel. This album was her breakthrough on the Billboard magazine charts, which it placed on the Gospel Albums and Christian Albums. Her second album, Metamorphosis, was released by LeCe Entertainment in 2008. She released the third album, Evolution of Me with Fontana Records.

Early life

Thompson was born on May 15, [1] 1970, [2] as Frances LeJuene Hayes, [2] in Greensboro, North Carolina, as the ninth of ten siblings in her family. [3] Her parents divorced, so while with her mother, she listened to religious music because her mom was a minister of evangelism. [3] While at her fathers, she listened to secular music, and was captivated by the vocals of Al Green. [3] Early on, she was a member of The Tri-City Singers, before she started her solo career. [4]

Music career

Her solo music career started in 2001, with the release of Soul Inspiration, and this released on September 25, 2001, [5] by EMI Gospel. [6] This was her breakthrough album on the Billboard magazine charts, which it placed at No. 17 on the Gospel Albums and at No. 40 on the Christian Albums. [7] Mark Goodge, indicating in an eight out of ten review by Cross Rhythms magazine, replies, "The title may be a bit corny, but this excellent debut solo album from the former Tri-City Singers vocalist delivers exactly what it says on the tin." [8] The second album, Metamorphosis, was released by LeCe Entertainment on February 2, 2008, [9] yet this album failed to chart. [7] Dancin' Dave Derbyshire, mentioning in an eight out of ten review from Cross Rhythms, responds, "With her eclectic blend of neo-soul styles LeJuene shows off her impressive vocals by effortlessly lifting the smooth sounds of some of the songs and belting out others." [10] Her third album, Evolution of Me, released by Fontana Records in 2012, [6] and again this did not chart. [7]

Personal life

Thompson is married to Cedric Thompson, who is a native of Anderson, South Carolina, and he is a Grammy Award and Stellar Award-winning music producer. [11] [12] The couple have three sons, Cedric Jr., Christopher, and Chandler, and they reside in Charlotte, North Carolina. [11] [12] Thompson is the founder and CEO of Buttrfly Girls that she launched on June 1, 2013. [11] She along with her husband own and operation LeCe Entertainment. [12]

Heart to Yours is the debut solo studio album by American singer and songwriter Michelle Williams. Released on April 16, 2002, by Sanctuary and Columbia Records, it became the first solo release of any Destiny's Child member. Production of the album began in 2001, with Williams working with an array of producers, including her brother Erron Williams, HR Crump and Warryn Campbell. Heart to Yours is primarily a contemporary gospel album, which incorporates elements of other styles and genres such as neo-soul, inspirational, R&B and rock music. The album includes a tribute, dedicated to the victims and families affected by the September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States. She is the First African American Female to host a nightly syndicated radio show, as she is the host of Nightly Spirit under Reach Media Inc.

Lisa McClendon is an American jazz-gospel-soul artist. She started her music career, in 2002, with the release of My Diary, Your Life by Shabach Entertainment. Her second album, Soul Music, released in 2003 by Epic Records and Integrity Gospel. This would be her Billboard magazine breakthrough release upon the Gospel Albums chart. The third album, Live from the House of Blues, was released in 2006 by Columbia Records alongside Epic Records and Integrity Gospel. The album would chart again, but this time around on the Heatseekers Albums chart as well. She would release an independent album on Blusoul Records in 2009, Reality, and this charted on the Gospel Albums chart. In 2015, she released the long-awaited album 5AM, The Sound of Waking up to Him.

Minister Cedric LeVance Ford is an American gospel musician and leader of Worship Unlimited, currently based out of Houston, Texas because he is the music minister at Reflections of Christ Church. His first album, Featuring Visions: A Choral Ministry, was released by Muscle Shoals Records in 2000, and produced by Dorothy Norwood. He released, Created 2 Worship, with Tyscot Records in 2009, and this was a Billboard magazine breakthrough release upon the Gospel Albums chart at number 34. He was nominated for a NAACP Theatre Award for his role in The Fabric of a Man by David E. Talbert.

Kelli Evon Williams-Malcolm is an American gospel musician. Her first album, Kelli Williams, was released by Sony Music Entertainment in 1995. The subsequent album, I Get Lifted, was released in 1998 by Word Records in association with Epic Records, and this was a Billboard magazine breakthrough release upon the Gospel Albums chart. She released, In the Myx, with the Word Records in tandem with Epic Records in 2000.

Wanda Nero Butler is an American gospel musician. Her first album, Reach for His Love, was released by Sog Secret in 1987, and her second album, New Born Soul, was released by the label in 1989. The subsequent two albums, Wanda and Live in Atlanta, was released in 1991 by Light Records. She released, Chike-Anyabwille, All to the Glory of God, and Family Prayer, was released in 1994, 1996, and 1999 respectively by Sound of Gospel. All albums charted with the lone exception of Wanda on the Billboard magazine Gospel Albums chart.

LaRue Howard is an American gospel musician. Her first album, I'm Free, was released by Tribe Records in 2004. The subsequent album, How Great Is Our God, was released in 2008 by EMI. This album was a Billboard magazine breakthrough release upon the Christian Albums and Gospel Albums charts. The song, "How Great Is Our God", won her the GMA Dove Award for Contemporary Gospel Recorded Song of the Year at the 40th GMA Dove Awards in 2009.

Steffany Dawn Gretzinger is an American Christian music singer-songwriter and former ensemble vocalist with Bethel Music, based in Franklin, Tennessee. She released her first solo album, The Undoing, with Bethel Music in 2014. The album was a Billboard magazine breakthrough release, reaching number twenty on the Billboard 200, and also gained top five status among Top Christian and Independent albums in September 2014.
