Squash, sometimes called squash rackets, is a racket sport played by two (singles) or four players (doubles) in a four-walled court with a small, hollow, rubber ball. The players alternate in striking the ball with their rackets onto the playable surfaces of the four walls of the court. The objective of the game is to hit the ball in such a way that the opponent is not able to play a valid return. There are about 20 million people who play squash regularly world-wide in over 185 countries. The governing body of squash, the World Squash Federation (WSF), is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and the sport will be included in the Olympic Games, starting with the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. The Professional Squash Association (PSA) organizes the pro tour.
The Professional Squash Association, aka PSA, is the governing body for the men's and women's professional squash circuit. The body operates in a similar fashion to the ATP and the WTA for tennis. The PSA's highest professional level, the PSA World Tour involves over 250 tournaments annually around the world. Over 1,200 players from five continents and more than 60 countries are registered with the PSA. Rankings are updated weekly based on performances.

Ramy Mohamed Ashour, known as Ramy Ashour, is a retired professional squash player from Egypt. He was one of the world's best squash players in the late 2000s and early 2010s, having won three World titles in 2008, 2012 and 2014. He became the youngest player to reach number one in the world since the 1980s, as well as the first ever two-time World Junior Squash Champion.
Dipika Pallikal is an Indian professional squash player. She was the first Indian player to break into the top 10 in the world rankings.
Raneem Mohamed Yasser Saad El Din El Welily is a former professional squash player from Egypt. She reached a career-high world ranking of No. 1 in September 2015. She is a three-time finalist at the World Open, in 2014, 2016, and 2019-2020. She became the World Champion in 2017, after defeating her compatriot Nour El Sherbini in the finals.

Simon Rösner is a German former professional squash player. He broke into the Top 10 PSA World Rankings for the first time in November 2014, going on to become the highest-ranked male German squash player of all time. Rösner subsequently reached a world ranking of No. 6 matching Germany's Sabine Schone's career-high world ranking of No. 6 in June 2015. Rösner broke into the world Top 5 in June 2018 and Top 3 in December 2018 making him the highest-ever-ranked German player.
Stephen Coppinger is a former professional squash player who represented South Africa. He grew up in Mombasa, Kenya and was educated at Hilton College. He reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 14 in April 2015.
Paul Daniel Coll is a New Zealand professional squash player. In March 2022, he became the first New Zealand man to achieve a world ranking of World No. 1. He is a two times British Open champion, having won this tournament in 2021 and 2022.

The 2016–17 PSA World Tour is the international squash tour organised circuit organized by the Professional Squash Association (PSA) for the 2016 squash season. It's the 2nd PSA season since the merger of PSA and WSA associations in 2015. The most important tournaments in the series is the Men's World Championship and the Women's World Championship. The tour features three categories of regular events, World Series, which feature the highest prize money and the best fields, International and Challenger. In the middle of the year, the PSA World Series tour is concluded by the Men's PSA World Series Finals and the Women's PSA World Series Finals in Dubai, the end of the world series season for the top 8 rated players. Players performances in the tour are rated by the Men's World Rankings and Women's World Rankings.
