Lee Sorochan (born September 9, 1975) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. He played three games in the NHL as well in the minor leagues, and across Europe.
Sorochan began his major junior career with the Lethbridge Hurricanes of the WHL in 1991, having previously played for the Sherwood Park Kings of the AMBHL. [1] Following the 1992–93 season in which he scored 40 points in 69 games Sorochan was selected 34th overall in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers. Midway through the 1994–95 season, Sorochan was traded along with wingers Dmitiri Markovsky & Mark Szoke to the Saskatoon Blades in exchange for wingers Kirby Law, Steve Roberts and defenceman Mike O'Grady. [2] He would finish the season with the Blades, and subsequently turn professional.
Sorochan turned pro following the culmination of the 1994-95 WHL playoffs, playing for the Binghamton Rangers, the AHL affiliate of the New York Rangers, in the AHL playoffs ultimately losing to the Cornwall Aces. [3] He made his regular season debut with Binghamton during the 1995–96 season, playing 45 games and scoring 10 points. [1] His third season in Binghamton saw an increase in scoring, with Sorochan tallying 31 points in 77 games. In the off-season, the New York Rangers relocated their farm team to Connecticut, and renamed the team the Hartford Wolf Pack. Sorochan remained with the team, and registered 18 points in 73 games during the1997-98 season. [1]
The following season, Sorochan split time between the Wolf Pack and IHL side Fort Wayne Komets. On March 23, 1999, Sorochan was traded by the Rangers to the Calgary Flames in exchange for defenceman Chris O'Sullivan. He would go on to make his NHL debut for the Flames four days later against the Phoenix Coyotes. He would play for the Flames again the following day against the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. [4] Sorochan would finish the season with the Flames farm team the Saint John Flames. [1] He returned to Saint John for 1999–00 season where he had a career year, scoring 41 points in 60 games. He was also called up to Calgary one more time, playing one game against the Nashville Predators. [4]
Sorochan moved to the Europe for the 2000–01 season in order to play for reigning British champions the London Knights of the BISL. [5] He would only play 8 games for the Knights however, as Finnish team Jokerit offered him a contract in December. [6] [7] His time in Helsinki didn't get off to a good start however, as, during the Spengler Cup, he aggravated a persistent back injury and as a result was sidelined until the end of January, 2001. [8] Sorochan failed to register a single point in 16 games, whilst the team finished top of the table, but ultimately lost in the opening round of the playoffs to Kärpät. For the 2001–02 season, Sorochan moved to Germany to play for Eisbären Berlin of the DEL. In December, he collided with teammate Boris Blank during practice and damaged a ligament in his knee, resulting in him being out of the line up for several weeks. [9]
Sorochan returned to the UK for the 2002–03 season, playing for the Belfast Giants. During his time in Northern Ireland he scored 16 points in 31 games, but suffered an eye injury which resulted in him missing the playoff finals, [10] which the Giants won, beating the London Knights 5–3 in the final. He returned to North America for the 2003–04 season, playing for the Long Beach Ice Dogs of the ECHL for whom he played 63 games and tallied 21 points. Subsequently, Kolesar retired from professional hockey.
Sorochan was a member of the gold medal-winning Canadian team at the 1995 World Junior Hockey Championships. [11]

Jay Daniel Bouwmeester is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. He played seventeen seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Florida Panthers, Calgary Flames and St. Louis Blues. He was a first round selection, third overall, of the Panthers at the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. He was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team in 2003 and played seven seasons in the Panthers organization before being traded to the Calgary Flames in 2009, with which he played four seasons. Bouwmeester was then traded to the Blues in 2013. He held one of the longest iron man streaks in NHL history as he appeared in 737 consecutive regular season games between 2004 and 2014.
Allan MacInnis is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played 23 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Calgary Flames (1981-1994) and St. Louis Blues (1994-2004). A first round selection of the Flames in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft, he went on to become a 12-time All-Star. He was named the Conn Smythe Trophy winner as the most valuable player of the playoffs in 1989 after leading the Flames to the Stanley Cup championship. He was voted the winner of the James Norris Memorial Trophy in 1999 as the top defenceman in the league while a member of the Blues. In 2017 MacInnis was named one of the '100 Greatest NHL Players' in history.
The Vancouver Giants are a major junior ice hockey team playing in the Western Hockey League (WHL). Inaugurated in 2001–02, the Giants have won one Ed Chynoweth Cup in 2006 and one Memorial Cup in 2007. Their home rink was the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, British Columbia, an arena previously used by the National Hockey League (NHL)'s Vancouver Canucks. Effective with the 2016–17 season, the team relocated to the Langley Events Centre in the Township of Langley, a suburb of Vancouver.
Kelvin Wade Kisio is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who currently serves as a scout for the Vegas Golden Knights of the National Hockey League (NHL). Kisio played 761 games in the NHL as a centre for the Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers, San Jose Sharks, and Calgary Flames between 1983 and 1995, and was team captain for the Rangers for three and a half years.
Derek Terrence Morris is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played over 1,100 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Calgary Flames, Colorado Avalanche, Phoenix Coyotes, Boston Bruins and New York Rangers. He was originally drafted out of the Western Hockey League (WHL) 13th overall by the Calgary Flames in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.
Dennis Earl Wideman is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played in the National Hockey League (NHL). Wideman was drafted in the eighth round, 241st overall, by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

Lawrence D. Nycholat is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League with the New York Rangers, Washington Capitals, Ottawa Senators, Vancouver Canucks and the Colorado Avalanche.
Kris Russell is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who is currently an unrestricted free agent. He most recently played for the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was originally drafted in the third round, 67th overall, by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and played four seasons with the team before moving on to the St. Louis Blues, Calgary Flames and Dallas Stars. He has also played for TPS and Oulun Kärpät in the Finnish Liiga.
Donald Kenneth Nachbaur is a Canadian professional ice hockey coach and former player who is currently serving as an assistant coach for the Calgary Wranglers in the American Hockey League (AHL). He played eight seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Hartford Whalers, Edmonton Oilers, and Philadelphia Flyers between 1980 and 1990. He would later spend four years in the Austrian Hockey League. After retiring from playing, Nachbaur turned to coaching, including serving as a head coach for over twenty seasons, primarily in the Western Hockey League (WHL). He has also spent time as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Kings of the NHL.
David Struch is a Canadian former professional ice hockey centre and former head coach of the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League. As a player, he played for the Calgary Flames in the NHL, as well as in the minor leagues, and across Europe.
Tyson Barrie is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman for the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has previously played for the Colorado Avalanche, Toronto Maple Leafs and the Edmonton Oilers. He was drafted by the Avalanche in the third round, 64th overall, of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Mark Anthony Cundari is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. As a junior, Cundari was a member of two Memorial Cup championship teams with the Windsor Spitfires before turning professional in 2010. An undrafted player, he spent the majority of three seasons in the St. Louis Blues organization before being traded to the Calgary Flames in 2013.
Lance Gordon Bouma is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre who is currently playing with the Linköping HC of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). He previously played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Calgary Flames and Chicago Blackhawks. He was a third round selection of the Flames, 78th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft and made his NHL debut in January 2011. As a junior, he was a member of the Vancouver Giants team that won the 2007 Memorial Cup.
Micheal Ferland is a Canadian former professional ice hockey winger. Ferland has previously played for the Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames, and Carolina Hurricanes. Ferland was drafted by the Flames in the fifth round, 133rd overall, at the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Roman Horák is a Czech ice hockey player currently playing for HC Sparta Praha of the Czech Extraliga (ELH). He previously played nine games in the Czech Extraliga with HC České Budějovice before coming to North America to play two WHL seasons with the Chilliwack Bruins. He was selected by the New York Rangers in the fifth round, 127th overall, of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, and joined the Calgary Flames organization via trade in 2011. In 2014, he was traded by the Flames for a brief stint with the Edmonton Oilers.
