Lee E. Tafanelli (born March 3,1961) is an American National Guardsman who,serving as the Adjutant General of Kansas from 2011 to 2020. He is a former Republican member of the Kansas House of Representatives,representing the 47th district.
Tafanelli was a Republican member of the Kansas House of Representatives,representing the 47th district. He first served from 2001 to 2004. Following a yearlong deployment in 2005 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom,he served from 2006 until his resignation January 10,2011,when he was appointed Adjutant General of Kansas by Governor Sam Brownback.

On January 28,2011,Tafanelli was sworn in as the Adjutant General of Kansas,the military commander of the Kansas National Guard,and was promoted to major general. Previously he served as assistant adjutant general-Army,Kansas Army National Guard.
Tafanelli joined the Kansas Army National Guard in 1980 and receiving his commission as a second lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers through Army ROTC at Pittsburg State University in 1982.
While serving as commander of the 891st Engineer Battalion,he led the battalion on its deployment to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005. Later,he commanded the 69th Troop Command and was director of operations for the Kansas National Guard.
Tafanelli has served at the Department of the Army level,as military assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Manpower and Reserve Affairs) in support of Operation Noble Eagle and Operation Enduring Freedom. [3]
The 42nd Infantry Division (42ID) ("Rainbow") is a division of the United States Army National Guard. It was nicknamed the Rainbow Division because,during rapid mobilization for service in WW1,it was formed from 27 National Guard units from across the US. The 142nd Field Artillery Regiment is a United States Army field artillery regiment currently represented in the Arkansas Army National Guard by the 1st Battalion,142nd Field Artillery,headquartered in Bentonville,Arkansas;2nd Battalion,142nd Field Artillery,headquartered in Barling,Arkansas;and Battery F,142nd Field Artillery stationed in Fayetteville,Arkansas,elements of the 142nd Field Artillery Brigade which is headquartered in Fayetteville,Arkansas. The battalion's served throughout the European Theater of Operations. The battalions were activated again for the Korean War and served throughout the war. Following the Korean War,the separate battalions resumed their former designations of 1–142nd FA and 2–142nd FA. The 142nd Field Artillery Brigade,including both battalions,was activated for Operation Desert Storm. Elements of the 142nd Fires Brigade have been activated for service in Operation Noble Eagle and Operation Iraqi Freedom. The 142nd Fires Brigade was instrumental in support and recovery operations located in New Orleans,Louisiana after hurricanes Katrina and Rita devastated the Gulf Coast.
Joseph J. Taluto is a retired United States Army officer who served as the Adjutant General of New York. As adjutant general,he was the director of the New York State Division of Military &Naval Affairs,and served as overall commander of the New York Army National Guard,New York Air National Guard,New York Guard and New York Naval Militia. Taluto commanded the 42nd Infantry Division in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2004 to 2006.
