Lempy Lucas,also:Lukas,(born 7 November 1961 in Eendombe,Omusati Region) is a Namibian politician. [1] A member of the National Assembly from 2000 until 2015,Lucas is a member of the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO). She has held a number of Deputy Minister positions in Namibia's government,she currently is Deputy Minister of Agriculture,Water and Forestry. She had previously been a SWAPO Party Youth League activist. [2]
Lucas joined SWAPO in 1979 and fled shortly thereafter to Angola,where she studied. In 1982,she earned a diploma in Youth Administration from East Germany. She then returned to Angola in the mid-1980s,where she worked as an administrator at the SWAPO Health and Education Centre at Kwanza-Sul. In 1986 she was reassigned to Luanda,where she worked in the SWAPO headquarters until independence in 1989. From 1990 to 2002,Lucas served as an important figure in the SWAPO Party Youth League. In 1997,she joined the SWAPO Central Committee. In 2004,she was appointed to the position of Deputy Foreign Minister. She was then a resident of Ohangwena Region. [3]
Following the 2009 parliamentary elections,Lucas was redeployed as Deputy Minister of Defence. In the Cabinet reshuffle following the fifth SWAPO congress in 2012,Lucas swapped positions with Petrus Iilonga and is now the Deputy Minister of Agriculture,Water and Forestry. [4] In the 2014 parliamentary elections,Lucas did not gain a seat in parliament. [5] Her portfolio of Deputy minister of Agriculture,Water and Forestry was split and taken over by Theo Diergaardt and Anna Shiweda. [6]
The South West Africa People’s Organisation,officially known as the SWAPO Party of Namibia,is a political party and former independence movement in Namibia. Founded in 1960,it has been the governing party in Namibia since the country achieved independence in 1990. The party continues to be dominated in number and influence by the Ovambo ethnic group.
Hidipo Livius Hamutenya was a Namibian politician. A long time leading member of the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO),Hamutenya was a member of the Cabinet of Namibia from independence in 1990 to 2004. He was defeated in a bid for the party's presidential nomination in 2004 and left SWAPO to form an opposition group,the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP),in 2007. He was elected to the National Assembly of Namibia with RDP in the 2009 general election. He was forced to step down as RDP President on 28 February 2015 and rejoined SWAPO on 28 August 2015.
Marco Mukoso Hausiku was a Namibian politician who was Deputy Prime Minister of Namibia from 2010 to 2015. Previously he served as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2004 to 2010. In 2017 he was elected Deputy Secretary-General of the Swapo Party at the party's 6th Congress.

Jerry Lukiiko Ekandjo is a Namibian politician,former anti-apartheid activist and political prisoner. He is one of the founding members of the SWAPO Youth League and has been one of the most active internal leading members of the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO) during the liberation struggle. He spent eight years in prison on Robben Island after being charged for inciting violence in 1973. Ekandjo has been a member of the Cabinet of Namibia from independence in 1990 until 2018,serving the SWAPO government in various ministerial positions. His last appointment was Minister of Youth and Sport since 2012,from which he was recalled in early 2018. Previously he was Deputy Minister of Local Government and Housing from 1990 to 1995,Minister of Home Affairs from 1995 to 2005,Minister of Lands and Resettlement from 2005 to 2008,and Minister of Regional and Local Government,Housing and Rural Development from 2008 to 2012.
Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana is a Namibian politician who served as the secretary-general of the South-West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO) from 2007 to 2012. She was also minister of Justice from 2005 to 2012 and minister of Home Affairs from 2012 until February 2018 when president Hage Geingob relieved her off her duties in a cabinet reshuffle.

Nandi-Ndaitwah is a member of SWAPO,Namibia's ruling party,and a long-time member of the National Assembly of Namibia. In 2017,Nandi-Ndaitwah was elected vice-president of the Swapo Party at the party's 6th Congress. She is the first woman to serve in that position.
Kazenambo Kazenambo was a Namibian politician. A member of SWAPO,Kazenambo was first elected to the 4th National Assembly of Namibia in 2005. He then served as Deputy Minister of Local and Regional Government,Housing and Rural Development until 2010,and as Minister of Youth,National Service,Sport and Culture until 2012. He was a member of SWAPO's Politburo.
Teopolina Mushelenga is a Namibian politician. A member of SWAPO,she was first elected to the National Assembly of Namibia in the 1999 elections,and was subsequently reelected in 2004. Upon the election of Hifikepunye Pohamba that same year,she was appointed Deputy Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration. Prior to the 2009 general election,Mushelenga was placed 59th on SWAPO's electoral list of 72 candidates for the National Assembly. The top 54 SWAPO candidates on the list were elected,thus leaving Mushelenga out of the National Assembly.
Monica Nashandi is a Namibian diplomat and politician. Nashandi was Namibia's ambassador to Scandinavian countries as well as the former High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. Nashandi was removed from the SWAPO list for the 2009 general election because she had not registered to vote,a requirement under Namibian law. Nashandi was Namibia's ambassador to the United States of America from 2019 to 2020.

Henock Sheya ya Kasita was a Namibian politician who served as Deputy Minister of Lands and Resettlement from 2008 to 2010. He previously was Deputy Minister of Mines and Energy from 2003 to 2008,SWAPO Chief Whip in the National Council from 1994 to 2003. Ya Kasita was a Member of the National Council for Oshana Region starting 1993 to the year 2010,and a founding Councilor for Okaku Constituency in 1993 until 2010. He also served as Deputy Chairperson for the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) National Group from 1996 to 2000,and became its Chairperson from 2000 to 2004.
