Leonard Brown Sossamon Jr. is an American real estate developer,county administrator,and politician. He was appointed to the North Carolina House of Representatives in 2000 but lost election to a full term by Linda P. Johnson later that year. [1] [2] [3]

Rowan County is a county in the U.S. state of North Carolina that was formed in 1753,as part of the British Province of North Carolina. It was originally a vast territory with unlimited western boundaries,but its size was reduced to 524 square miles (1,360 km2) after several counties were formed from Rowan County in the 18th and 19th centuries. Malcolm Buie Seawell was an American lawyer and politician. A member of the Democratic Party,he served as North Carolina Attorney General from 1958 to 1960. Seawell was raised in Lee County,North Carolina. After law school,he moved to Lumberton and joined a law firm. From 1942 to 1945 he worked for the U.S. Department of War in Washington,D.C. He then returned to Lumberton and successfully ran for the office of mayor in 1947. He held the post until the following year when he was appointed 9th Solicitorial District Solicitor. While working as solicitor Seawell gained state-wide prominence for his aggressive efforts to prosecute the Ku Klux Klan (KKK),and was credited for ultimately pushing the organization out of Robeson County. Governor Luther H. Hodges later made him a judge before appointing him Attorney General of North Carolina in 1958 to fill a vacancy.
The 2022 United States House of Representatives elections in North Carolina were held on November 8,2022,to elect U.S. representatives from the state of North Carolina,concurrent with nationwide elections to the House of Representatives and U.S. Senate,alongside legislative elections to the state house and senate. Primaries were held on May 17,2022.
An election was held on November 8,2022,to elect all 120 members to North Carolina's House of Representatives. The election coincided with the elections for other offices,including the U.S Senate,U.S. House of Representatives,and state senate. The primary election was originally going to be held on March 8,2022,with a run-off in June 2022,however the North Carolina Supreme Court delayed the primary until May 17,2022,pending challenges over the State's districts and paused candidate filing. Prior to this pause,several candidates had already filed to run The elections will be held under new districts passed by the General Assembly in House Bill 976 to account for population changes following the 2020 census. The maps were later overturned by the North Carolina Supreme Court,who ordered the legislature to draw new maps. The North Carolina General Assembly later redrew the maps which were upheld by the Wake County Superior Court and the North Carolina Supreme Court. Candidate filing resumed on February 24,2022 and concluded on March 4,2022.
