Lenford Leon O'Garro (born 1 June 1965) is a Vincentian sprinter who competed at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain and also in two IAAF World Championships in Athletics. [1]
O'Garro aged just 18 years old competed for the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines at the 1983 World Championships in Athletics in Helsinki, he competed in the 400 metres and ran in a time of 50.25 seconds and came 7th of the seven starts so didn't qualify for the next round. [2] Four years later O'Garro competed in two events at the 1987 IAAF World Indoor Championships held in Indianapolis, United States, in the 200 metres he broke the National record running in a time of 22.65 seconds and coming in 22nd [3] place thus not qualifying for the next round, he also competed in the 400 metres and finished 18th but again broke the National record in a time of 49.84 seconds. [4] Later that year he competed in his second World Championships and again competing in the 400 metres, he ran a time of 49.19 seconds and came last in his heat. [5]
Four years later he was picked for the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Olympic team to compete in the 4 x 400 metres relay, with team-mates Michael Williams, Eversley Linley and Eswort Coombs they ran in a time of 3:10.21 and finished seventh in their heat and 19th overall out of the 24 teams that started. [6] Even though O'Garro was only 27 years and 68 days old when he competed at the 1992 Summer Olympics he is still the oldest Vincentian to have competed at the Summer Olympics. [7]
Kim Collins is a former Kittitian track and field sprinter. In 2003, he became the World Champion in the 100 metres. He represented his country at the Summer Olympics on five occasions, from 1996 to 2016, and was the country's first athlete to reach an Olympic final. He competed at ten editions of the World Championships in Athletics, from 1995 to 2015, winning five medals. He was a twice runner-up in the 60 metres at the IAAF World Indoor Championships. At regional level, he was a gold medallist at the Commonwealth Games and a silver medallist at the Pan American Games. As of 2023, he is the only Individual World Championships Gold medallist from Saint Kitts and Nevis.
The 400 metres, or 400-meter dash, is a sprint event in track and field competitions. It has been featured in the athletics programme at the Summer Olympics since 1896 for men and since 1964 for women. On a standard outdoor running track, it is one lap around the track. Runners start in staggered positions and race in separate lanes for the entire course. In many countries, athletes previously competed in the 440-yard dash (402.336 m)—which is a quarter of a mile and was referred to as the 'quarter-mile'—instead of the 400 m (437.445 yards), though this distance is now obsolete.
Matthew John "Matt" Elias is a retired Welsh athlete who specialised in the 400 metres sprint and 400 metres hurdles. During his international career he represented Great Britain. In 2003 he won a gold medal at the European Championships and at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens he finished 5th in the 4 × 400 m relay, He is also a part of Super Schools.
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines sent a delegation to compete at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. The year's team included two athletes engaged in track and field events, and was accompanied by the team coach, manager, and chaperone. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines' appearance in Beijing marked its sixth consecutive Olympic appearance since its 1988 debut in Seoul, South Korea, and its smallest delegation to date. Alexander bore the flag of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the opening ceremony and neither athlete medaled in their events or advanced to later rounds.

Natasha Laren Mayers is a professional track and field sprinter who competes internationally for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. She is the national record holder over 60 metres, 100 metres and 200 metres. She represented her country at the Summer Olympic Games in 2000 and 2004, and had the honour of national flag bearer at the latter edition. She has also appeared at the IAAF World Championships in Athletics in 2001 and 2003, as well as having taken part at the IAAF World Indoor Championships.
Slobodan Branković is a Serbian former track and field athlete who specialised in the 400 metres. He is currently the general secretary of the Athletics Federation of Serbia.
Lalonde Keida Gordon, HBM is a Tobagonian male track and field sprinter who specialises in the 400 metres. He won the bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics with a personal best of 44.52 seconds. He is the third fastest 400 m runner from his country after Machel Cedenio and Ian Morris.
During the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines appeared in their seventh consecutive Summer Olympics. The country sent three competitors to their team with wild card entries. Athlete Kineke Alexander reprised her role as the nation's flag bearer for the second time at the opening ceremony. As Alexander entered her second Olympics, athlete Courtney Carl Williams and swimmer Tolga Akcayli debuted at the 2012 Olympics. For Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, none of the country's competitors advanced past their individual heats. In overall standings, Akcayli had the highest 2012 Olympic finish for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines when he placed 45th in the men's 50 metre freestyle.
Kineke Alicia Alexander is a Vincentian sprinter who competed in the 400m event at the 2008 Summer Olympics and the 2012 Summer Olympics. She was the flag bearer for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines at the 2008 opening ceremony and the 2012 opening ceremony. She was also the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines flagbearer at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Jakub Krzewina is a Polish track and field sprinter who specialises in the 400 metres. A frequent competitor for Poland in the 4×400 metres relay, he has won two medals at the European Athletics Championships and reached the final at the 2016 Summer Olympics. He was also a relay silver medallist with Europe at the 2014 IAAF Continental Cup.
Regine Tugade-Watson is a Guamanian sprinter. She competed in the women's 100 metres event at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics in Beijing, China, as well as the girl's 200 m event at the 2015 World Youth Championships in Cali, Colombia. She competed in the women's 100 m preliminary round of the 2016 Summer Olympics. Tugade finished third place in her heat but did not progress further. She also competed in her second World Championships in 2017, competing in the 200 m. She holds seven Guamanian national records in athletics. In July 2021 she was a flag bearer in the Parade of Nations at the Tokyo Olympics opening ceremony.

Fredrick Lee Kerley is an American track and field sprinter who started his career competing in the 400 meters until 2020, when he transitioned to the 100 meters and 200 meters. He has earned several medals at the World Championships in the 400 m and 4 × 400 m relay including an individual bronze and a relay gold at the 2019 edition. Kerley claimed 100 m gold in the 2022 edition.
Lieke Klaver is a Dutch track and field athlete who specializes in sprint races. She finished fourth in the 400 metres at the 2022 World Athletics Championships. Klaver won the silver medal for the event at the 2023 European Indoor Championships. She earned five major medals as part of Dutch 4 × 400 m relays, either women's or mixed, including silver for the mixed relay at the 2022 World Championships.
