Deion Luwynn Sanders Sr. is an American football coach and former player who is the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes football team. Nicknamed "Prime Time", "Neon Deion", and since becoming a coach, "Coach Prime", he played in the National Football League (NFL) for 14 seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, Washington Redskins, and Baltimore Ravens. Charles David Whitehurst Jr., is an American former professional football player who was a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Clemson Tigers, and was selected by the San Diego Chargers in the third round of the 2006 NFL draft. Nicknamed "Clipboard Jesus", Whitehurst also played for the Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans, Indianapolis Colts and Cleveland Browns.

Ole Miss has been a member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) since the league's inception in 1932, and has participated in that conference's Western Division since its formation in 1992. The Rebels played their seven home games in 2009 at Vaught–Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi, which has been Ole Miss football's home since 1915. The Rebels finished the season 9–4, 4–4 in SEC play and won their second straight Cotton Bowl Classic 21–7 against Oklahoma State.

He played college football for the Brigham Young University Cougars. Collie also played in the NFL for the New England Patriots and in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for the BC Lions.
The Southern Heritage Classic presented by FedEx is an annual historically black college football game between the Golden Lions of University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) and the Tigers of Tennessee State University. UAPB replaced Jackson State University after Jackson State played 29 games in the classic.
Adoree' K. Jackson is an American professional football cornerback and return specialist for the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the USC Trojans, earning consensus All-American honors and winning the Jim Thorpe Award and the Jet Award during his junior season in 2016. He was selected by the Tennessee Titans in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft. Jackson spent four seasons with the Titans before signing with the Giants in 2021.
Bruce Barton Holmes is an American former professional football linebacker who played two seasons in the National Football League (NFL) with the Kansas City Chiefs and Minnesota Vikings. He was selected by the Chiefs in the twelfth round of the 1987 NFL draft. He played college football at the University of Minnesota and attended Henry Ford High School in Detroit, Michigan. Holmes was also a member of the Toronto Argonauts, Ottawa Rough Riders and BC Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL).
