George Manneh Oppong Weah is a Liberian politician and former professional footballer who is the outgoing president of Liberia, serving in office between 2018 and 2024. Prior to his election to the presidency, Weah served as Senator from Montserrado County. He played as a striker in his prolific 18-year professional football career, which ended in 2003. Weah is the first African former professional footballer to become a head of state.

Mighty Barrolle, commonly called "the Rollers", were promoted back to the First Division in 2016 after a successful campaign in Division 2.

Watanga Football Club is a Liberian association football club founded on December 24, 1997. The club was named after the military camp established just outside Monrovia by former members of the rebel movement at the end of the First Liberian Civil War in 1996. Their home stadium is the Antoinette Tubman Stadium. I.E. is one of Liberia's most popular and historic clubs, along with Mighty Barrolle. George Weah, Liberia's most famous footballer and current president, scored 24 goals in 23 games during a spell at I.E. in the 1986–87 season.
Liberian International Shipping & Corporate Registry FC, abbreviated to LISCR FC, is a football (soccer) club from Liberia based in Gardnersville, Montserrado County. They play their home matches at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in central Monrovia. They have won the Liberia Football Association Knockout three times and the Liberia Super Cup trophy twice. They won the premiership title for the first time in their history in the 2010–11 season and retained the title the following season (2011–12). LISCR became the last winner of the Liberian Premier League before the dissolution of the league to the first division by the Liberia Football Association. After five years of the dissolution of the Premiership, they won the new first division for the first time in 2017 after finishing top of the 2016-17 Liberia First Division League table with an unbeaten record.
