Lee Hyo-ri is a South Korean singer, record producer, activist, actress and television presenter. Dubbed as the "Nation's Fairy" during her Family Outing days, she debuted as a member of South Korean girl group Fin.K.L, but has since become a solo artist. In 2003, she released her debut solo album Stylish which won several "Artist of the Year" awards. In 2006, Lee was the highest-paid female singer in South Korea when she signed a contract with Mnet Media.

Wonder Girls (Korean: 원더걸스) was a South Korean girl group formed by JYP Entertainment. The group debuted in February 2007 with the single "Irony" and 5 members: Yeeun, Sunye, Sunmi, Hyuna and Sohee. After Hyuna's departure in July, Yubin was added into the group prior to the release of their debut studio album, The Wonder Years (2007). The album spawned the hit single "Tell Me," which topped various South Korea's on and offline music charts.
"Irony" is the debut single by South Korean girl group Wonder Girls, written and produced by Park Jin-young. It was released on February 13, 2007, through JYP Entertainment. The song was released as a maxi single titled The Wonder Begins with two B-side tracks: "Bad Boy", "It's Not Love", as well as a remix version of "Irony". An accompanying music video was also released and shows Sohee, Yeeun, Sunmi and Hyuna's revenge on Sunye's unfaithful boyfriend by using a voodoo doll to embarrass him. It marks their only release to feature member Hyuna, who left the group in July 2007.

Written and produced by Park Jin-young, the song samples Stacey Q's "Two of Hearts" (1986) written by John Mitchell. The song was mainly performed using "Tell Me ", which features Yubin's self-written rap verse. This version was added as a B-side to their second maxi single "So Hot", released in May 2008.
