"The Way She Moves" is a song written and performed by Puerto Rican singer Zion and American singer Akon. [1] Produced by Akon, the song was released as the lead single from Zion's debut solo studio album The Perfect Melody (2007). [2] After temporarily separating from the duo Zion & Lennox, Zion began recording material for his debut solo album. The song was released to radio stations on April 21, 2007 and released as a digital download on April 9, 2008. [3]

Zion became known in the duo Zion & Lennox. [2] As a duo, they released one studio album, Motivando a la Yal (2004). The album peaked at number thirty-two and number thirteen on the Billboard Latin Albums and Billboard Latin Pop Albums, respectively. [4] The special edition re-release performed better, reaching number ten on the Billboard Latin Albums chart. [4] The album was well received by critics, with Evan Gutierrez of Allmusic calling it a "landmark album" and "one of the albums that artists will refer to in years to come as one of the records that shaped reggaeton and its future". [5] In 2006, the duo separated, allowing Zion to focus on his solo career. [6] He began working on The Perfect Melody in October 2007. [2] Originally, the album was to be a compilation album of various artist, though after "bad experiences with new talent", Zion decided to work the project alone. [2] According to an editor for Allmusic, the song is a "beat—driven" pop song and "a smooth, catchy collaboration with Akon". [7]

Release and chart performance

"The Way She Moves" was released as the lead single from the album to radio stations on April 21, 2007. It was released as digital download on April 9, 2008, [8] along with the second single "Zun Da Da". [9] The music video, which features Akon was released for purchase on June 28, 2007. [10] It was posted to the video-sharing website YouTube on November 22, 2009 and has generated over twelve million views. [11] On Billboard Latin Songs chart, the song debuted at number forty-six for the week of May 5, 2007 and peaked at number eleven the week of June 16, 2007. [12] [13] On the Billboard Tropical Songs chart, the song debuted at number thirty-three the issue dated May 12, 2007 and peaked at number thirteen the week of June 16, 2007. [14] [15] On the Billboard Latin Rhythm Songs chart, the song debuted at number twenty-four for the week of April 28, 2007 and peaked at number three on the week of June 16, 2007. [16] [17] On the Billboard Latin Pop Songs chart, "The Way She Moves" debuted and peaked at number thirty-four for the week of August 11, 2007 and spent an additional six weeks on the chart before exiting it at number thirty-five for the week of September 15, 2007. It marked Ivy Queen's first single in almost a year since "Angel Caido" being released in 2004. It is a reggaeton track that features influences from reggae. In June 2005, Ivy Queen partnered with co-founder of Perfect Image Records, José Guadalupe to form Filtro Musik. The song was included on the soundtrack of EA Sports' 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany video game. Ivy Queen performed the song at the 2005 Premios Juventud award ceremony where she was nominated for Favorite Urban Artist. "Like You" is a song by Puerto Rican rapper Daddy Yankee from his third studio and first commercially released album Barrio Fino which was highly responsible for reggaeton's mainstream exposure in 2004. It was co-written by Daddy Yankee and Eddie Ávila in the English language, and produced by Luny Tunes. The song was released as the album's sixth single internationally. In the United States, the song was successful in the mainstream market but could not rank on Latin charts due to language barriers.

"Pobre Corazón" (English: Poor Heart) is a song recorded by Divino for Ivy Queen's sixth studio album, Sentimiento (2007). It was composed by Divino along with Queen and produced by Marcos Sánchez. A remix version with Queen was also recorded and included on the platinum edition of the album. Separate salsa and bachata versions were also later recorded. Ivy Queen and Divino performed the remix of the song as a part of the setlist of her 2008 World Tour which was held from the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum known as the Coliseum of Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Charting on five Billboard charts, the song reached #24 on the Latin Pop Airplay chart.

"Los 12 Discípulos" (English: The 12 Disciples) or "Quítate Tu Pa' Ponerme Yo" (English: Move So I Can Come) is a song by Puerto Rican rapper Eddie Dee featuring various artists from his fifth studio album, 12 Discípulos (2004). It features eleven other reggaeton musicians, who were among the most requested in the genre at the time. These include Eddie Dee along with Daddy Yankee, Ivy Queen, Tego Calderón, Voltio, Vico C, Zion, Lennox, Nicky Jam, Johnny Prez, Gallego, and Wiso G.

The production's success was later influenced by Daddy Yankee's Barrio Fino, which led reggaeton to mainstream audiences. Also the track "Ahora" featuring Angel Doze was included into the video game FIFA Football 2005 soundtrack.
