The 1928 Winter Olympics, officially known as the II Olympic Winter Games, were a winter multi-sport event which was celebrated February 11–19, 1928 in St. Moritz, Switzerland.
The 1960 Winter Olympics was a winter multi-sport event held from February 18 to February 29, 1960, in Squaw Valley, California, United States. The resort was chosen to host the Games at the 1956 meeting of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Squaw Valley was an undeveloped resort in 1955, so the infrastructure and all of the venues were built at a cost of US$80 million between 1956 and 1960. The layout was designed to be intimate, allowing spectators and competitors to reach most of the venues on foot.

Yolande Jobin was a Swiss figure skater. She was the 1951 Swiss national champion. She represented Switzerland at the 1952 Winter Olympics where she placed 18th. After the 1953 World Championships in Davos she retired from competitive skating. She then spent several Winters in Crans coaching young people at the ice rink. In the early 1960s she retired from all skating and settled in La Tour de Peilz near Vevey with her parents who had retired there from London. She spent the rest of her life there, looking after her elderly parents. She never married.
Franziska "Fränzi" Schmidt is a Swiss former figure skater who competed in ladies' singles. She is a three-time Swiss national champion. She finished in the top ten at two European Championships and competed at two Winter Olympics, placing 22nd in 1960 and 23rd in 1964.
Elvira Barbey was a Swiss figure skater. She competed at the 1928 Winter Olympics and finished 19th in singles and 11th in pairs, together with her husband Louis Barbey. She and Louis later won the French Figure Skating Championships in 1934 and 1936. Their daughter Gaby Clericetti also became a competitive figure skater.
