Cloud Gate Dance Theatre is a modern dance group based in Taiwan. It was founded by choreographer Lin Hwai-min in 1973,and later he shared its management with his late protégé,choreographer Lo Man-fei. The troupe was inactive from October 1988 to September 1990. During this time,Lin spent time abroad in India and Indonesia,and studied at New York University.The genesis of Cloud Gate Dance Theatre was rooted in Lin Hwai-min's youthful desire to profoundly impact society,mirroring the "barefoot doctors" of the Cultural Revolution who endeavored to improve healthcare in impoverished rural areas.

Lo Man-fei was a Taiwanese dancer and choreographer. She was a member of the Cloud Gate Dance Theater,founded by Lin Hwai-min,between 1979 and 1994. Lin subsequently founded her own dance troupe,Taipei Crossover Dance Company,and led Cloud Gate 2 from 1999 to her death.
Tsai Jui-yueh was a Taiwanese dancer and choreographer regarded as the mother of modern dance in Taiwan.
Kathryn Posin is an American choreographer known for her musical and sculptural fusing of ballet and modern dance genres. In addition to choreographing,she has also taught technique and composition at several American universities. Her most recent season with The Kathryn Posin Dance Company commissioned by 92nd Street Y in February 2016 received an award from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and an Arts Works Grant from the NEA in 2017.

He performed and choreographed throughout Europe,in Belgium,Germany,and Austria,while maintaining a periodic affiliation with Chamber Ballet Taipei in Taiwan. Yu returned to Taiwan in 2015 to lead that dance company,which he renamed Formosa Ballet.
Gian Carlo Michelini,M.I. is an Italian-Taiwanese Roman Catholic priest. He moved to Taiwan in 1964,where he founded the Lanyang Dance Troupe. In 1996,Michelini helped establish the Yilan International Children's Folklore and Folkgame Festival.
