Linda Siegel (June 5, 1961) is a retired professional tennis player from the United States [1] who played in the Grand Slam tournaments in the 1970s and 1980s. [2]
Linda Siegel defeated Ivanna Madruga, 6–4, 6–4 to win US Open girls' singles champions in 1978. In the same year she lost in the final of South African Open women's singles championship.
Having just turned eighteen, Siegel made headlines on June 27, 1979 when she went braless in a low cut tennis dress during her second round match against Billie Jean King at Wimbledon. Siegel was immediately pursued by several photographers who followed her to her hotel room, asking her to pose in bathing suits and even in the nude. She refused and found the incident so embarrassing that she retired from tennis. [3] [4]
Sarah Virginia Wade is a British former professional tennis player. She won three major tennis singles championships and four major doubles championships, and is the only British woman in history to have won titles at all four majors. She was ranked as high as No. 2 in the world in singles, and No. 1 in the world in doubles.
Hana Mandlíková is a former professional tennis player from Czechoslovakia who later obtained Australian citizenship. She was also runner-up in four Grand Slam singles events - twice at Wimbledon and twice at the US Open. She won one Grand Slam women's doubles title at the 1989 US Open with Martina Navratilova. Inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1994, Mandlíková was one of the brightest stars of her generation and is considered one of the greatest female players of the Open Era.
Mima Jaušovec is a retired Yugoslavian tennis player. She won the 1977 French Open singles championship.

Mary Joe Fernández Godsick is an American former professional tennis player, who reached a career-high ranking of world No. 4 in both singles and doubles. In singles, Fernández was the runner-up at the 1990 and 1992 Australian Open, and the 1993 French Open. She also won a bronze medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics. In doubles, she won the 1991 Australian Open with Patty Fendick and the 1996 French Open with Lindsay Davenport, plus two Olympic gold medals.

She was the runner-up in women's singles at the 1998 Wimbledon Championships and runner-up in the women's doubles at the 2001 US Open partnering Kimberly Po-Messerli. She reached a career-high ranking of world No. 3 in both singles and doubles.

In January 2019, Stubbs received the OLY post-nominal title at the Brisbane International tournament.
Linda Tuero is an American tennis player and paleoanthropologist. She won six U.S Junior Titles and three U.S. Women's Titles. She reached the quarter-finals of the French Open in 1971, and won the singles titles at the Italian Open in 1972. She represented the United States in the Wightman Cup and Federation Cup teams in 1972 and 1973 and served as the Federation Cup Captain in 1973. Tuero was ranked in the U.S. Top Ten Women Singles for four years and in 1972 was ranked No. 10 in the World.
Elizabeth Smylie, sometimes known as Liz Smylie, is a retired Australian tennis player. During her career, she won four Grand Slam titles, one in women's doubles and three in mixed doubles. She also won three singles titles and 36 doubles titles on the tour. Liz also taught junior tennis players at Smith's Tennis Center, North Curl Curl. Sydney in the early 1990's.
The 1978 US Open was a tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts at the USTA National Tennis Center in New York City in New York in the United States. It was the 98th edition of the US Open and the third Grand Slam tennis event of the year. The tournament was held from August 28 to September 10, 1978, and the singles titles were won by Jimmy Connors and Chris Evert. This was the first year the US Open was played at the National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows after having been organized at the West Side Tennis Club venue in Forest Hills since 1915. It was also the first time the tournament was played on hard courts, as opposed to much of its history on grass and a brief stint, from 1975 through 1977, on clay.
Billie Jean King defeated the defending champion Evonne Goolagong in the final, 6–3, 6–3 to win the women's singles title at the 1972 French Open. She did not drop a set en route to her first French Open singles title, with which she completed the career Grand Slam in singles.
